The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President on the 30th December , 2003 and is hereby published for general information:-
THE RAILWAYS (AMENDMENT) ACT , 2003
No. 56 of 2003
[30th December, 2003. ]
An act further to amend the Railways Act , 1989 .
BE it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty- fourth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Railways (Amendment) Act , 2003.
Short title and commence- ment .
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette , appoint .
24 of 1989 .
Amendment of section 137 .
2. In section 137 of the Railways Act , 1989 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act) , in sub- section (3 ) , for the words " fifty rupees " , the words " two hundred and fifty rupees " shall be substituted.

3. In section 138 ofthe principal Act, in sub -section ( 3 ) , for the words " fifty rupees " , the words " two hundred and fifty rupees " shall be substituted.
