सं. 1 /5/2002-पब्लिक.-प्रवासी भारतीय सम्मान पुरस्कार स्थापित किए जाने से संबंधित दिनांक 15 नवम्बर, 2002 की समसंख्यक अधिसूचना में आंशिक संशोधन करते हुए और दिनांक 9 जनवरी , 2003 की समसंख्यक अधिसूचना के अनुक्रम में, राष्ट्रपति ने प्रवासी भारतीय सम्मान पुरस्कार के विनियमन संख्या ( ii ) और ( iv ) में निम्नानुसार संशोधन का अनुमोदन किया हैः-
(ii ) ये पुरस्कार उन अनिवासी भारतीयों और भारतीय मूल के व्यक्तियों और अनिवासी भारतीयों/ भारतीय मूल के व्यक्तियों से संबंधित संगठनों/संस्थाओं को प्रदान किए जाएंगे जिन्होंने विदेशों में भारत और भारतीय सभ्यता की बेहतर जानकारी को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए विशिष्ट योगदान दिया है और/अथवा भारत के हितों और सरोकारों के प्रति सहयोग प्रदान किया है और भारत के हितों को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर आगे बढ़ाया है और/ अथवा जिन्होंने विदेशों में रह रहे भारतीयों को महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया है अथवा उनकी सेवा की है ।
(iv) प्रतिवर्ष पुरस्कारों की अधिकतम संख्या 15 ( पंद्रह ) होगी ।

NOTIFICATION
NewDelhi, the 8th January, 2004
No. 1/5/2002- Public. In partial modification of the Notification ofeven number dated the 15th November, 2002 instituting the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award and in continuation of the Notification of even number dated the 9th January, 2003 , the President has approved the amendment of the regulation numbers ( ii ) and (iv) of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award as follows:-
(ii) The awards shall be conferred on Non- Resident Indians and Persons of Indian Origin and NRI/PIO organizations/ institutions, who have made outstanding contribution towards fosteringbetter understanding abroad of India and its civilizations and/ or have extended their support to India's causes and concerns and have advanced her interest internationally and/ orhave made significant contribution or service tothe IndianDiaspora.
(iv) The maximum number ofAwards each year shall be 15 (fifteen) .
