का. आ. 262( अ ).-केन्द्रीय सरकार, जैव विविधता अधिनियम , 2002 ( 2003 का 18) की धारा 8 की उप- धारा ( 1 ) और (4 ) द्वारा प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए उक्त अधिनियम के प्रयोजनों के लिए राष्ट्रीय जैव विविधता प्राधिकरण नामक निकाय की 1 अक्तूबर , 2003से स्थापना करती है । सदस्यों की समय अवधि समाप्त होने पर प्राधिकरण में निम्नलिखित सदस्य होंगे , नामतः:-
धारा 8 की उप- धारा ( 4 ) के खंड ( क ) के अधीन अध्यक्ष के रूप में नियुक्त सदस्य:
(1) प्रो. एस. कन्नयन , अध्यक्ष ( 19-5-2008 तक नियुक्त)
धारा 8 की उप- धारा ( 4 ) के खंड ( ख ) के अधीन नियुक्त पदेन सदस्य:
(2) जनजाति. मामले मंत्रालय में संयुक्त सचिव , भारत सरकार अथवा समतुल्य अधिकारी ।
(3) भारत सरकार , पर्यावरण और वन मंत्रालय में अपर महानिदेशक ( वन ) ।
(4) पर्यावरण और वन मंत्रालय में इस विषय से संबंधित संयुक्त सचिव , भारत सरकार ।
धारा 8 की उप- धारा ( 4 ) के खंड ( ग ) के अधीन नियुक्त पदेन सदस्य:
(5) कृषि मंत्रालय में , कृषि अनुसंधान और शिक्षा विषय से संबंधित, संयुक्त सचिव , भारत सरकार अथवा समतुल्य अधिकारी ।
(6) जैव प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग में इस विषय से संबंधित संयुक्त सचिव , भारत सरकार अथवा समतुल्य अधिकारी ।
(7) महासागर विकास विभाग में इस विषय से संबंधित संयुक्त सचिव , भारत सरकार अथवा समतुल्य अधिकारी ।
(8) कृषि और सहकारिता विभाग में इस विषय से संबंधित संयुक्त सचिव , भारत सरकार अथवा समतुल्य अधिकारी ।
(9) भारतीय चिकित्सा एवं होम्योपैथी पद्धति विभाग में इस विषय से संबंधित संयुक्त सचिव, भारत सरकार अथवा समतुल्य अधिकारी ।
(10) विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग में इस विषय से संबंधित संयुक्त सचिव , भारत सरकार अथवा समतुल्य अधिकारी ।
(11 ) वैज्ञानिक और औद्योगिक अनुसंधान विभाग में इस विषय से संबंधित संयुक्त सचिव , भारत सरकार अथवा समतुल्य अधिकारी ।
धारा 8 की उप- धारा ( 1 ) के खंड ( घ ) के अधीन नियुक्त गैर -सरकारी सदस्य:

2. राष्ट्रीय जैव विविधता प्राधिकरण के सदस्यों की पदावधि 22 फरवरी , 2007 से तीन वर्ष की अवधि के लिए होगी : राष्ट्रीय जैव विविधता प्राधिकरण के अध्यक्ष के रूप में प्रो. एस. कन्हैयन की पदावधि 19 मई , 2008 तक रहेगी ।

NOTIFICATION

S.O. 262 (E) . In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub- sections (1 ) and (4) of Section 8 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 ( 18 of 2003 ) , the Central Government has established a body called the National Biodiversity Authority, on and from the 1st day of October , 2003 for the purposes of the said Act. After expiry of term of the Members , the Authority shall consist of the following members , namely :---
Member appointed as Chairperson under clause ( a) of Sub - section (4) ofSection 8 :
(1) Prof. S. Kannaiyan , Chairperson (Appointed upto 19-5-2008 )
Ex-officio members appointed under clause (b) of Sub- section (4) of Section 8 :
(2) Joint Secretary or an officer of an equivalent rank to the Government of India in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs .
(3) Additional Director General ( Forests) , Ministry of Environment and Forests , Government of India .
(4) Joint Secretary to the Government of India dealing with the subject in the Ministry of Environment and Forests .
Ex-officio members appointed under clause ( c) of Sub- section ( 4) of Section 8 :
(5) Joint Secretary or an officer of an equivalent rank to the Government of India dealing with the subjeci in the Agricultural Research and Education , Ministry of Agriculture .
(6) Joint Secretary or an officer of an equivalent rank to the Government of India dealing with the subject in the Department ofBiotechnology .
(7) Joint Secretary or an officer of an equivalent rank to the Government of India dealing with the subject in the Department of Ocean Development .
