आ.अ. 174(अ). निर्वाचन प्रतीक ( आरक्षण और आबंटन) आदेश , 1968 के पैरा 17 के अनुसरण में, भारत निर्वाचन आयोग अपनी दिनांक 17 अक्तूबर , 2008 की अधिसूचना संख्या 56/2008/पी.पी.एस. में एतद्वारा निम्नलिखित संशोधन करता है , अर्थात्:-
उक्त अधिसूचना से संलग्न सारणी- IV ( स्वतंत्र प्रतीकों की सूची ) में , कर्नाटक राज्य के लिए केवल उप- निर्वाचन के उद्देश्य से " कुल्हाड़ी " और " नेक टाई " प्रविष्टि , मुक्त प्रतीक के रूप में जोड़े जाएंगे ।
कर्नाटक राज्य के लिए मुक्त प्रतीक की सूची में " कुल्हाड़ी " और " नेक टाई " प्रतीकों का समावेशन दिनांक 3 दिसम्बर, 2008 से प्रभावी होगा और इस प्रकार यथाविनिर्दिष्ट समझा जाएगा तथा कर्नाटक राज्य के केवल चालू उप-निर्वाचन की समाप्ति तक ही लागू रहेगा ।

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi , the 24th December, 2008
Ο.Ν. 174(E).-In pursuance of paragraph 17 of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment ) Order, 1968, the Election Commission of India hereby makes of following amendment to its Notification No. 56/ 2008/PPS dated 17th October , 2008, namely :-
In Table- IV (List of free symbols) appended to the said Notification, the entries " Axe " and " Neck Tie" shall be added as free symbol for the State of Karnataka only for the purposes of the Bye - elections to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, 2008 .
The inclusion of the symbols , " Axe " and " Neck Tie" in the list of free symbols for Karnataka shall be deemed to have been so specified with effect from 3rd December , 2008, and shall be in force only till the completion ofthe current bye - elections to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, 2008.
