आ.अ. 1( अ)-निर्वाचन प्रतीक ( आरक्षण एवं आबंटन ) आदेश , 1968 के पैरा 17 के अधीन शक्तियों , के अंतर्गत , जिसे दिनांक 21 अक्तूबर, 2008 की अधिसूचना सं. 56/जम्मूव कश्मीर/2008/रा.दल. अनु. द्वारा जम्मूव कश्मीर की विधानसभा के निर्वाचन के लिए लागूकिया गया था ; का प्रयोग करते हुए भारत निर्वाचन आयोग अपनी दिनांक 17 अक्तूबर , 2008 की अधिसूचना सं. 56/2008/ राज.दल. अनु. में एतद्वारा निम्नलिखित संशोधन करता है ; अर्थात्:-
अधिसूचना के साथ संलग्न सारणी-IV ( मुक्त प्रतीकों की सूची ) में " किताब " तथा " शेर " प्रविष्टियों को , जम्मू व कश्मीर विधानसभा के लिए चालू साधारण निर्वाचन के उद्देश्य से केवल जम्मूव कश्मीर राज्य के लिए मुक्त प्रतीकों के रूप में जोड़ा जाएगा ।
जम्मूव कश्मीर के लिए मुक्त प्रतीकों की सूची में " किताब " तथा " शेर " प्रतीकों का समावेश , 24 अक्तूबर , 2008 से यथा विनिर्दिष्ट रूप में प्रभावी समझा जाएगा तथा यह केवल जम्मू व कश्मीर राज्य में चालूसाधारण निर्वाचन की समाप्ति तक ही लागू रहेगा ।

ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA NOTIFICATION
New Delhi , the 30th December, 2008
O.N. 1 (E) . In exercise of the powers under paragraph 17 of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968 , as made applicable for election to the Legislative Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir vide the NotificationNo. 56/ J & K/2008/PPS dated 21st October, 2008 the Election Commission of India hereby makes the following amendment to its Notification No. 56/ 2008 /PPS dated 17th October, 2008 ; namely:-
In Table IV (List of free symbols) appended to the said Notification, the entry "Book " and " Lion" shall be added as free symbols for the State of Jammu & Kashmir only for the purposes of the current general election to the Legislative Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir.
The inclusion of the symbols "Book" and " Lion " in the list of free symbols for Jammu & Kashmir shall be deemed to have been so specified with effect from 24th October, 2008 , and shall be in force only till the completion of the current general election in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
