आ.अ. ( अ).-लोक प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम, 1951 ( 1951 का43 ) की धारा 22 की उप- धारा ( 1 ) में उपबन्धों का प्रयोग करते हुए भारत निर्वाचन आयोग , मेघालय राज्य सरकार के परामर्श से अपनी समय - समय पर यथासंशोधित दिनांक 16 मार्च , 2004 की अधिसूचना सं. 434/मेघालय/2004 ( 2 ) द्वारा नियुक्त अधिकारियों के अतिरिक्तनीचे की सारणी के स्तम्भ ( 2 ) में विनिर्दिष्ट सरकार के प्रत्येक अधिकारी को ऐसे अधिकारियों के सामने उक्त सारणी के स्तम्भ ( 1 ) में यथा विनिर्दिष्ट मेघालय राज्य में संसदीय निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों के ऐसे रिटर्निंग आफिसर को उसके कृत्यों के निष्पादन में सहायता करने के लिए एतद्वारा सहायक रिटर्निंग आफिसर के रूप में नियुक्त करता है :-

ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA NOTIFICATION
New Delhi , the 16th January, 2009
O.N. 8 (E) . In exercise of the provisions of sub-section ( 1 ) of Section 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951 ) , the Election Commission of India, in consultation with the State Government of Meghalaya , hereby appoints , in addition to the officers appointed by its Notification No. 434/MEG/2004 (2 ) dated the 16th March, 2004, as amended from time to time, each ofthe officers ofthe Government specified in column 2 of the Table below as Assistant Returning Officers to assist the Returning Officers of the Parliamentary Constituency in the State of Meghalaya as specified in column 1 of the said Table against such officers of the State Government in the performance of the functions of such Returning officer:-
