BILL NO. 275 OF 2024

A Bill further to amend the Constitution of India.

BE it enacted by Parliament in the Seventy-fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be called the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-ninth Amendment) Act, 2024.

Short title and commencement.

(2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

2. After article 82 of the Constitution, the following article shall be inserted, namely:— Insertion of new article 82 A. '82A. (1) The President may by a public notification issued on the date of the first sitting of the House of the People after a general election, bring into force the provision of this article, and that date of the notification shall be called the appointed date.

Simultaneous elections to the House of the People and all Legislative Assemblies.
