Functions
The functions of the Samiti will be to render advice to the Govt. in regard to the implementation of the provisions relating to official language con- tained in the Constitution, Official Languages Act and Rules and policy decisions of the Kendriya Hindi Samiti and instructions issued by the Deptt. of Offi- cial Language and also in regard to the progressive use of Hindi in the Ministry of Shipping.
Tenure
The tenure of the samiti will be three years from the date of its reconstitution provided that i (a) a Member, who is a Member of Parliament, will cease to be a member of Samiti as soon as he ceases to be member of Parliament}
(b) ex-officio members of the Samiti shall continue as members so long as they hold the office by virtue of which they are members of the Samiti; and (c) a member nominated in a vacancy arising in the samiti due to the death or resignation of any member, shall hold affice for the residual terms.
Travelling and other Allowances
The Non-official members will be paid travelling and daily allowance for attending the meetings of the Samiti as per the guide lines of the Official Language Deptt. contained in the offico memorandum No. 11/ 20034/4/86-O. L. (A-2) dated 22nd Januarj 1987 and the rates fixed bytheOovt, of India fromtlm© to time.
