NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 26th June, 2001
G. S. R. 482 (E).—in exercise of the power conferred by section 24 of the Passport Act, 1967 (15 of 1967), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Passport Rules, 1980, namely:-
1. (1) These rules may be called the Passport (Amendment) Rules, 2001.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In Schedule IV to the Passport Rules, 1980, for the 'Note', the following 'Note1 shall be substituted namely:-
Note: Only passport fee as applicable would be payable for grant of an out-of-turn Tatkaal passport covered under serial Nos.29,30,31,32,33,34 and 35 in the following cases, namely:-
(i) The a'pplicant has been advised to go abroad for specialised medical treatment and consultation,
(ii) The attendant(one only) who would need to accompany the applicant referred to at (i) above,
(iii) In case of death abroad of spouse, father, mother, child, child's spouse, grand child, brother or his spouse, and sister or her spouse, of the applicant", and
(iv) In the case of a student applicant requiring a passport for appearing in the examination for admission to some foreign education institution, or for going abroad for studies, provided his/her parents'/guardians income is less than Rs.2000/- per month,
(v) All diplomatic/official passport holders who apply for an ordinary passport in lieu of their diplomatic/official passport,
(vi) Any other category of passport applicants to be approved by the government.
