A continuous process for preparing detergent granules having bulk density greater than about 650 g/l, which process comprises the steps of :
(a) mixing a surfactant paste comprising at least 10% by weight of a neutralized anionic surfactant as herein defined and a powder which is water soluble and is selected from the group consisting of alkali mater salts of phosphates, polyphosphates, phosphonates, polyhosphonatcs, carbonates, silicates, borate, polyhydroxysulfonates and mixtures thereof, using a mixer at a first speed for a period of from 2 seconds to 30 seconds, wherein the first speed is from 600 to 2000 RPM and is sufficient to substantially eliminate localized buildup, balling or caking of the powder;
(b) agglomerating the resulting mixture having predetermined viscosity using a mixer of a second speed of from 60 to 150 RPM for a period of less than one minute to provide the final detergent granules with a porosity of not less than 15%;
(c) obtaining the detergent granules of a desired mesh size and subjecting it to at least one of drying and . cooling.

the reservoir for as long as the bottle is inverted and an open air passage is established through the air conduit reservoir liquid conduit to carry ambient air into the container and thereby maintain atmospheric pressure.
