Aclosure for a container having an externally screw threaded neck, the closure comprising a top portion and a depending skirt which has on its internal surface a complementary screw thread ; a free edge of the depending skirt being joined by a plurality of frangible bridges and at least one non - frangible bridge to a tamper-evident band, the at least one non - frangible bridge having an extended circumferential length in relation to the circumferential length of the individual frangible bridges ; the tamper- evident band comprising a generally cylindrical body portion and a segmented rib extending inwardly of the body portion and adapted to provide a lip to engage under a retaining flange extending outwardly from the neck of the container how the screw thread thereon; an L-shaped slot extending radially through the side wall of the tampe t band, the slot having a first leg positioned adjacent the non -frangible bridge and downward direction from the top of the tamper-evident band, and a second leg extending in a ge extending generally circumferentially in the direction of the extended non - frangible bridge of the tamper- evident band; the second leg terminating at its end remote from the first leg of the L- shaped slot a position axially under or directly adjacent to the extended non- frangible bridge ; the body portion of the tamper- evident band having a frangible region extending between the bottom of the second leg of the L- shaped slot and the bottom of the body portion, such that when the closure is unscrewed and removed from the container the frangible bridges will break and the frangible region will break to remove the tamper -evident band with the closure and leave the tamper-evident band connected to the depending closure skirt by the non -frangible bridge. 10

A method for preparing and separating 2- hydroxy mandelic acid and 4 -hydroxy mandelic acid by condensing glyoxylic acid and phenol and subsequent elution separation of the components of the reaction mixture individually in a known anion exchange resin column, said column having a plurality of sites , wherein unreacted phenol is first eluted by means of a known eluent followed by selective desorption and separation of 4 - hydroxy mandelic acid in the form of acid or salt by eluting with an acid, base or salt such as herein described and finally eluting and separating 2-hydroxy mandelic acid in the form of acid or salt with an acid, base or salt such as herein described and thereafter recovering said 2- hydroxy mandelic acid and 4- hydroxy mandelic acid from the eluents in a known manner.

An improved process for the preparation of high yielding technical dry amorphous oil- free powder containing 10-17% azadiractin from Azadirachta indica seed kernel, which comprises grinding seed kernels of " Azadirachta indica to fine powder , defatting the obtained powder using non-polar solvent, extracting the marc thus obtained by polar solvent, filtering and concentrating the filtrate by conventional methods , incorporating of molecular sieves of the kind as defined herein to the concentrate filtrate , cooling at a temperature ranging from 0° to 10° C for a period of 8-12 hours , precipitating the said filtrate by adding non-polar solvent, filtering and drying the precipitate to obtain powder with yield ranging between 1.1 -1.7% by weight of seed kernels , the process is characterized in using simple steps and molecular sieves of mesh size ranging from 4A° to 5A°.

A process for the preparation of a novel fibrinolytic peptide from venom of snake Indian king cobra( Ophiophagus Hannah) having a molecular weight of 610 daltons and amino acid sequence asparate- glutamate glycin alanine leucine , devoid of phospholipase activity, haemorrhagic activity, haemolytic activity and useful for pharmacological purposes which eomprises:
(i) obtaining venom of snake king cobra by conventional methods ;
( ii) fractionating venom , so obtained, by conventional chromatographic methods using solvent system isopropanol : 0.1N HC1 (7 : 3v/v) and obtaining spots on chromatographic plate.
(
iii ) Isolating an active compound with 0.04% yield from a spot obtained at step ( ii ) and visualized at 254nm in UV chamber such as herein described,
(iv) Purifying the said active compound obtained in step ( iii ) , using high performance liquid chromatography to get the desired novel fibrinolytic peptide .
