समितिका कार्य सरकारी कामकाज में हिन्दी के प्रगामी प्रयोग के बारे में राज्य सभा सचिवालय को सलाह देना होगा । एक कलैन्डर वर्ष में समिति कीतीन बैठकें होंगी ।

Hon'ble Chairman, Rajya Sabha is the Chairman ofthe Samiti
2. Functions
The functions of the Samiti will be to advise the Rajya Sabha Secretariat regarding progressive use ofHindi in official work. Three meetings of the Samiti may be held in a calender year.
3. Tenure
The term of the Samiti will be three years from the date of formation provided that :-
(a) Members of Rajya Sabha who are the members of the Samiti shall cease to be members as soon as they ceasetobeMembers of Rajya Sabha.
(b) Ex-officio Members of the Samiti shall continue as Members as long as they hold the office by virtue ofwhich they are Members of the Samiti .
(c) Ifa vacancy arises , on the Samiti due to resignation ordeath of aMember, the Member appointed in that capacity shall hold the office for the residual period ofthe tenure of three years .
4. General
ThePrincipal Chief Editor, Rajya Sabha Secretatiat will co- ordinate the meetings ofthe Samiti and the Rajbhasha Prabhag of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat will provide secretarial assistance to the Samiti .
5. Travelling and other allowances
The non- official members will be paid Travelling Allowance and Daily Allowance for attending the meetings ofthe Samiti at the prescribed rates as amended from time totimeby theGovernment of India and instructions contained in O.M. No. II /20034 /4/ 86- O.L . (A- 2) dated the 22nd January, 1987 of the Department of Official Language.
