सा.का.नि. 35. गुड़ श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन नियम, 2008 का निम्नलिखित प्रारूप जिसे केन्द्रीय सरकार, कृषि उपज ( श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन ) अधिनियम , 1937 ( 1937 का 1 ) की धारा 3 द्वारा प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए गन्ना गुड़ ( गुड़ ) श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन नियम, 1943 में उन बातों के सिवाय जिन्हें ऐसे अधिक्रांत करते हुए जो ऐसे अधिक्रमण के पहले किए गए हैं या किए जाने का लोप किया गया है , बनाने का प्रस्ताव करती है , उक्त धारा की अपेक्षानुसार ऐसे सभी व्यक्तियों की जानकारी के लिए, जिनके उससे प्रभावित होने की संभावना है , प्रकाशित किया जाता है और यह सूचना दी जाती है कि उक्त प्रारूप नियम उस तारीख से , जिसको भारत के राजपत्र की, जिसमें यह अधिसूचना अंतर्विष्ट हो, प्रतियां जनता को उपलब्ध करा दी जाती हैं, पैंतालीस दिन की अवधि की समाप्ति के पश्चात् विचार किया जाएगा;
ऐसा कोई व्यक्ति, जो उक्त प्रारूप नियमों के संबंध में ऊपर विनिर्दिष्ट अवधि के भीतर कोई सुझाव या आक्षेप करना चाहता है, उन्हें केन्द्रीय सरकार के विचार के लिए, भारत सरकार के कृषि विपणन सलाहकार , विपणन और निरीक्षण निदेशालय , प्रधान कार्यालय सी.जी.ओ. काम्पलेक्स एनएच- IV , फरीदाबाद-121001 को भेज सकेगा ।
प्रारूप नियम
1. संक्षिप्त नाम , लागू होना और प्रारंभ ( 1 ) इन नियमों का संक्षिप्त नाम गुड़ श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन नियम , 2008 है । (2 ) ये गन्ना , ताड़ , खजूर , नारियल , ताडों से प्राप्त गुड़ को लागू होंगे;
(3 ) ये राजपत्र में उनके अंतिम प्रकाशन की तारीख को प्रवृत्त होंगे ।

[PART II-SEC. 3 (i) ] 2. परिभाषाएं:-इन नियमों में , जब तक कि संदर्भ से अन्यथा अपेक्षित न हो,-
(i ) " कृषि विपणन सलाहकार " से भारत सरकार का कृषि विपणन सलाहकार अभिप्रेत है ;
( ii ) " प्राधिकृत पैकर " से ऐसा कोई व्यक्ति या व्यक्ति- निकाय अभिप्रेत है , जिसे इन नियमों के अधीन विहित श्रेणी मानकों और प्रक्रिया के अनुसार गुड़ के श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन के लिए प्राधिकार प्रमाणपत्र अनुदत्त किया जाए;
( iii ) " प्राधिकार प्रमाणपत्र " से साधारण श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन नियम , 1988 के उपबंधों के अधीन जारी प्रमाणपत्र अभिप्रेत है, जो किसी व्यक्ति या व्यक्ति- निकाय को श्रेणी अभिधान चिन्ह से गुड़ के श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन करने का प्राधिकार देता है;
( iv ) " साधारण श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन नियम " से कृषि उपज ( श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन ) अधिनियम , 1937 ( 1937 का 1 ) की धारा 3 के अधीन बनाए गए साधारण श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन नियम, 1988 अभिप्रेत है ;
(v ) " अनुसूची " से इन नियमों से संलग्न अनुसूची अभिप्रेत है ।
3. श्रेणी अभिधानः गुड़ की गुणवत्ता उपदर्शित करने वाला श्रेणी अभिधान अनुसूची 2 के स्तंभ 1 में वर्णित किए गए के अनुसार होगा ।
4. गुणवत्ताः गुणवत्ता अपनी श्रेणी अभिधान द्वारा उपदर्शित होगी जो अनुसूची 2 में उपवर्णित होगी ।
5. श्रेणी अभिधान चिन्हः श्रेणी अभिधान चिन्ह में प्राधिकार प्रमाणपत्र संख्यांक, " एगमार्क " शब्द , वस्तु का नाम और अनुसूची 1 में यथा उपवर्णित के सदृश श्रेणी अभिधान को सम्मिलित करने वाले डिजाइन से मिलकर बना " एगमार्क प्रतीक " होगा । 6. चिन्हांकन की पद्धति और लेबल लगानाः-
( 1 ) श्रेणी अभिधान चिन्ह प्रत्येक आधान में सुरक्षित रूप से लगाया जाएगा या स्पष्ट और सुपाठ्य रूप में, कृषि विपणन सलाहकार द्वारा अनुमोदित रीति में मुद्रित होगा ।
(2) प्रत्येक आधान पर श्रेणी अभिधान चिन्ह के अतिरिक्त , निम्नलिखित विशिष्टियां स्पष्ट और सुपाठ्य रूप में चिन्हांकित होंगी , अर्थात्
(क) पैकर/विनिर्माता का नाम और पता ;
(ख) पैकिग/विनिर्माता का स्थान ;
( ग) पैकिंग की तारीख *;
(घ) के पूर्व उपभोग सर्वोत्तम ;
(ङ) लाट/बैच संख्यांक ;
(च) कोई अन्य स्थानीय नाम जो प्ररूप में सूचित करना हो ;
(छ ) प्रकृति ( वैकल्पिक ) ;
(ज) श्रेणी;
(झ) शुद्ध भार ;
(ञ) अधिकतम खुदरा कीमत ( सभी करों सहित ) ;
(ट) कोई अन्य विशिष्टियां जो कृषि विपणन सलाहकार या खाद्य अपमिश्रण निवारण नियम , 1955 द्वारा विनिर्दिष्ट की जाएं । *पैकिंग की तारीख नमूने के विश्लेषण के पूरा होने की तारीख होगी ।
(3 ) कड़े गुड़ की दशा में 4 प्रतिशत से कम नमी होगी और दुगणित ध्रुवण पद्धति द्वारा अवधारित सुक्रोज भार के 80 प्रतिशत से कम नहीं होगा, लेवल पर ' कडा ' मुद्रित होगा ।
(4) पैकेजों पर चिन्हांकन के लिए प्रयुक्त स्याही ऐसी गुणवत्ता वाली होगी जो उत्पाद को संदूषित न करे ।
(5 ) प्राधिकृत पैकर , कृषि विपणन सलाहकार या इस निमित्त उसके द्वारा प्राधिकृत किसी अधिकारी का पूर्व अनुमोदन प्राप्त करने के पश्चात् श्रेणीकृत पैकेजों पर अपना निजी व्यापार चिन्ह या व्यापार ब्रांड का उपयोग कर सकेगा परंतु वह इन नियमों के अनुसार आधान पर लगाए गए श्रेणी अभियान चिन्ह द्वारा उपदर्शित क्वालिटी से भिन्न गुणवत्ता उपदर्शित न करता हो । 7. पैकिंग की पद्धतिः ( 1 ) गुड़ को जूट श्रेणी सामग्री के उपयुक्त अंतर वाले ठोस , स्वच्छ एवं शुष्क आधानों में , लैमिनेटेड पॉलिथिलिन या पॉलीप्रोपिलीन या उच्च सघनता वाले प्रॉलीथिलीन के थैलों, पाऊचों या किसी अन्य पैकेजिंग समाग्री में ही पैक किया जाएगा जो कृषि विपणन सलाहकार या इस निमित्त उसके द्वारा प्राधिकृत किसी अधिकारी द्वारा सम्य्क रूप से अनुमोदित हो;
(2 ) आधान किसी कीट ग्रस्तता या फफूंदी संदूषण से मुक्त होगा और किसी अवांछनीय या असहनीय गंध से भी मुक्त होगा ;
(3) आधान को कृषि विपणन सलाहकार या इस निमित्त उसके द्वारा प्राधिकृत किसी अधिकारी द्वारा अनुमोदित रीति से , सुरक्षित रूप से बंद और सीलबंद किया जाएगा;
(4) प्रत्येक पैकेज में केवल एक ही श्रेणी अभिधान का गुड़ होगा । उसी लाट बैच की श्रेणीकृत सामग्री और श्रेष्ठी अभिधान वाले गुड़ की उपयुक्त संख्या या छोटे पैकेटों को जूट की थैलियों , लकड़ी के बक्सों, गत्तों के कार्टनों आदि जैसे मास्टर आधानों में मान्य आधारों पर ब्यौरे के साथ पैक किए जा सकेंगे;

( 5 ) गुड़ , बाट और माप ( पैकेज कोमोडिटीज ) नियम , 1977 या कृषि विपणन सलाहकार द्वारा समय - समय पर जारी अिनुदेशों के अनुसार यथाविहित अनुमोदित पैक आकार में पैक होंगे।
(6 ) गुड़ का दानेदार संरचनाएं सुदृढ़ बनावट के साथ गुड़ से पृथक पैक होंगी ।
8. प्राधिकार प्रमाण- पत्र के अनुदान के लिए विशेष शर्ते: -
( 1 ) प्रत्येक प्राधिकृत पैकेट साधारण श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन नियम , 1988 के नियम 3 के उपनियम ( 8 ) में विनिर्दिष्ट शर्तों के अतिरिक्त समय - समय पर कृषि विपणन सलाहकार द्वारा विहित सभी अनुदेशों का अनुपालन करेगा ।
(2) प्राधिकृत पैकर गुड़ की गुणवत्ता का परीक्षण करने के लिए साधारण श्रेणीकरण और चिन्हांकन नियम , 1988 के नियम 9 के अनुसार कृषि विपणन सलाहकार या इस निमित्त उसके द्वारा प्राधिकृत किसी अधिकारी द्वारा अनुमोदित अर्हित रसायनज्ञ द्वारा प्रबंध की जा रही अपनी स्वयं की प्रयोगशाला स्थापित करेगा या उस प्रयोजन के लिए अनुमोदित राज्य श्रेणीकरण प्रयोगशाला या निजी वाणिज्यिक प्रयोगशाला में पहुंच रखेगा ;
(3 ) प्रसंस्करण , श्रेणीकरण और पैकिंग के लिए परिसरों को स्वास्थ्यप्रद और स्वच्छता की दशाओं में रखा जाएगा । इन संक्रियाओं में लगे हुए कार्मिकों का अच्छा स्वास्थ्य होगा और वे किसी संचारी , संसर्गी या संक्रामक रोग से मुक्त होंगे ;
(4) परिसरों में पक्के फर्श , प्रकाश और वायु के लिए बेहतर संवातन वाली पर्याप्त भंडारण सुविधाएं होंगी तथा वह कृन्तक और वे कीटों के आकीर्णन से मुक्त होंगे ;

गुड़ की श्रेणी अभिधान और गुणवत्ता
1. गुड़ से वह उत्पाद अभिप्रेत है जो गन्ने ( सेकेरम आफीसिनरेम ) को दबाकर निकाले गए रस को उबाल कर या संक्रिया करने या (ऐरेकासिया कुटम्ब के बोरेसस एकेआसी ) , खजूर ( डैकटाइलीफेरा ) या नारियल ( ऐरेकासिया परिवार के कोकास न्यूसीफेरा ) के उत्सर्जन से मानव उपभोग के लिए प्राप्त उत्पाद है ।
2. न्यूनतम अपेक्षाएं: -
(i ) गुड़ होगा-
( क) अच्छी तरह से शुष्क , ठोस , समरूप होगा , चिपचिपा या सुघटक नहीं होगा ;
(ख ) लक्षणिक स्वाद और सुवासित होगा ;
(ग ) साफ और कीट संदूषण, जीवित कीटाणु , मृत कीटाणुओं, कीट गंध, फफूंदी/ बरुथी , लार्वा कृतक वालों और उत्सर्ग से मुक्त होगा ;
(घ ) किण्वत और विकृत गंध से मुक्त होगा;
(ङ) धूल और मिट्टी से मुक्त होगा;
(च ) प्राकृतिक या संश्लेषित रंजकों, कृत्रिम मधुरकों से मुक्त होगा;
(छ ) किसी फफूंदी या जीवाणुवीय से मुक्त होगा;
( ज ) स्वास्थ्य के लिए हानिकर पदार्थों से मुक्त होगा;
(झ ) विरंजक अभिकरमकों से मुक्त होंगे;
(ञ) स्टार्च योजकों से मुक्त होंगे;

[PART II-SEC . 3 ( i) ) ( ii ) गुड़ विषाक्त धातु ( नियम-57 ) , फसल संदूषकों ( नियम-57क ) , प्राकृतिक रूप से पैदा होने वाले विषैले पदार्थों , ( नियम 57ख ) , कीट नाशियों और नाशियों और नाशकजीवमारों ( नियम 65 ) और घरेलू प्रयोजनों के लिए समय - समय पर यथासंशोधित खाद्य अपमिश्रण निवारण नियम, 1955 के अधीन यथाविहित अन्य खाद्य सुरक्षा अपेक्षाओं का अनुपालन करेगा ।
( iii ) गुड़ भारी धातुओं , कीटनाशियों/नाशकजीवमारों अवशिष्ट स्तर और निर्यात के लिए कोडक्स एलिमेनटेरियस आयोग के अधीन यथाविहित अन्य खाद्य सुरक्षा अपेक्षाओं या निर्यात के प्रयोजनों के लिए निर्यातकर्ता या आयातित देशों की अपेक्षाओं का अनुपालन करेगा ।
( iv ) गुड़ स्वाद में मधुर होगा और खट्टा , लवणीय या आपत्तिजनक सुवास का नहीं होगा ।

4. अन्य अपेक्षाएं:-
(i) गुड़ की दशा ऐसी होगी जिससे वे निम्नलिखित के लिए समर्थ हो सके :-
-परिवहन और हथालन को सहन करने के लिए; और
--गंतव्य स्थान में समाधानप्रद दशा में पहुंचने के लिए ।
(ii) विशेष श्रेणी के केवल गन्ने के रस से बनाया जाएगा जिसे पर्याप्त रूप से स्वच्छ वनस्पति सक्रियकृत कार्बन के योग से निर्मलीकरण की सामान्य पद्धति से किया गया है ।
( iii) ' विशेष ' श्रेणी के गुड़ के पैकिंग के लिए उपयोग किए जाने वाले आधान का अंतरिम भाग साफ सादे पैकिंग कागज का अस्तर होगा ।
(iv) गुड़ का प्ररूप पैकेज पर चिन्हित होगा जैसे :-
-डला या
-भेली या
-चाक या
-लड्डूया
-बाल्टी या
-ठोस टिक्कीया
--घन और थवई या
-कोई अन्य प्ररूप ।
( v) गुड़ की संरचना पैकिंग पर आधारित होगी ।
5. माप खंडित से संबंधित उपबंध :
मानक और साधारण श्रेणी के लिए क्रमशः दुर्घटना त्रुटि के लिए यथा टूटे के लिए गुड़ के भार का 3 प्रतिशत और 5 प्रतिशत होगा। 6. रंजकों से संबंधित उपबंध-( i ) गुड़ निम्नलिखित रंजक का होगा-
-हलका सुनहरा
-सुनहरा
-गहरा सुनहरा

(ii) विशेष श्रेणी के लिए गुड़ हल्के सुनहरे रंग का होगा
(iii) प्रत्येक श्रेणी के लिए गुड़ का रंग पैकेज पर चिन्हित होगा।
(iv) प्रत्येक श्रेणी के लिए रंग की भिन्नता के लिए भार का 5 प्रतिशत की सध्यता होगी।
स्पष्टीकरण :
पूर्ण रूप सेशुष्क:- से पदार्थ ऐसी सीमा तक शुल्क अभिप्रेत है जो जलवायु विषयक भार को और दशाओं का सम्यक् ध्यान रखते हुए जिसके अधीन उत्पाद हथालने , परिवहन या भंडारण रंग , अनुरक्षण , सुसंगत और भार को बनाए रखने योग्य होगा । गन्ने का स्वच्छ जूस: - स्वच्छ की प्रक्रिया सामान्यतः किसी अभिकर्मक के द्वारा प्रभावी होगी । इस प्रयोजन के लिए जिसके अंतर्गत सुखलई ( कयाडिया कालयासिन ) , डिओला ( हिबिसकस फिकलनियस ) आदि या खाद्य श्रेणी का सोडिया कार्बोनेट या क्वथनांक प्रक्रिया के दौरान गाद को पर्याप्त हटाने के द्वारा प्राप्त रस।
विजातीय पदार्थ- कोई विजातीय पदार्थ अभिप्रेत है जिसमें खोई , थूल , भूसा , खाद्य अनाज, मिट्टी और बालूहै ।

G.S.R. 35. The following draft of the Jaggery Grading and Marking Rules , 2008 which the Central Government proposes to make in exercise ofthe powers conferred by Section 3 ofthe Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Act, 1937 (1 of1937), in supersession of Sugarcane Gur (Jaggery) Grading and Marking Rules , 1943 , except in respect of things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, are hereby published as required by the said section , for information of all persons likely to be affected thereby and notice is hereby given that the said draft rules shall be taken into consideration after the expiry of a period of forty five days from the date on which copies of the Gazette of India containing this notification are made available to the public.
Any person desiring to make any suggestion or objection in respect of the said draft rules may forward the same for consideration of the Central Government within the period specified above to the Agricultural Marketing Adviser to the Government of India, Directorate of Marketing and Inspection, Head Office, N.H. IV, Faridabad- 121001 .
DRAFT RULES
1. Short title, application and commencement.- ( 1 ) These rules may be called the Jaggery Grading andMark- ing Rules , 2008 .
(2) They shall apply to Jaggery obtained from Sugarcane, Palmyra palm , Date palm or Coconut Palm.
(3) They shall come into force on the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette .
2. Definitions . In these rules , unless the context otherwise requires-
(1) "Agricultural Marketing Adviser " means the Agricultural Marketing Adviser to the Government of India ;
(ii) "Authorized packer" means a person or body of persons who has been granted the certificate of authorization to grade and mark Jaggery in accordance with the grade standards and procedure pre- scribed under these rules;
(iii) "Certificate of Authorization " means a certificate issued under the provisions of General Grading and Marking Rules , 1988 authorizing a person or a body of persons to grade and mark Jaggery with the grade designation mark ;
(iv) "General Grading and Marking Rules " means the General Grading and Marking Rules , 1988 made under Section 3 of the Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Act, 1937 ( 1 of 1937) ;
(v) " Schedule " means a Schedule appended to these rules.
3. Grade designation . The grade designation to indicate the quality of the Jaggery shall be as set out in Column No. 1 of Schedule II .
4. Quality. The quality indicated by the respective grade designations shall be as mentioned in Schedule II .
5. Grade designation mark. -The grade designation mark shall consist of " AGMARK INSIGNIA" consisting of the design incorporating the certificate of authorization number, the word " AGMARK " , name of the commodity and grade designation resembling the one as set out in Schedule 1.
6. Method of marking . ( 1 ) The grade designation mark shall be securely affixed to or clearly and indelibly printed on each container in a manner approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser ;
(2) In addition to the grade designation mark, the following particulars shall be clearly and indelibly marked on each container,-

(b) place of packing/ Manufacturing;
(c) date of packing ; *
(d) best before ................
(e) lot/batch number/ Code No. ,
(f) any other local name denoting the form;
(g) texture (optional) ;
(h) grade;
(i) net weight,
(j) maximum retail price ( inclusive of all taxes) ;
(k) any other particulars as may be specified by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser or Prevention of Food Adulteration Rules , 1955 .
*The date of packing shall be the date of completion of the analysis of the sample .
(3) In case ofhard Jaggery containing less than 4 % moisture and having a Sucrose content determined by double polarization method reporting not below 80% by weight the work " Hard" may be stamped on the label .
(4) The ink used for marking on packages shall be of such quality which may not contaminate the product.
(5) The authorized packer may, after obtaining prior approval of the Agricultural Marketing Adviser or an officer authorized by him in this behalf, mark his private trade mark or trade brand on the graded packages provided that the same does not indicate quality other than that indicated by the grade designation mark affixed to the container in accordance with these rules .
7. Method of packing .-( 1 ) Jaggery shall be packed only in sound , clean and dry containers made ofjute with or without suitable inner lining of food grade material , laminated polyethylene or poly propylene or high density polyethylene bags , pouches if required, or any other food grade material duly approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser or any officer authorized by him in this behalf;
(2) The container shall be free from any insect infestation or fungus contamination and also free from any undesirable or obnoxious smell;
(3) The container shall be securely closed and sealed in a manner approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser or an officer authorized by him in this behalf;
(4) Each package shall contain Jaggery of one grade designation only . Suitable number or small packets of Jaggery containing graded material of the same lot/ batch and grade designation may be packed in a master container such as jute bags , palm mats , bamboo boxes/ mats , cardboard cartons , etc. with details on master containers ;
(5) The Jaggery shall be packed in the approved pack sizes as prescribed under Weights and Measures (Packaged Commodities ) Act , 1977 or as per instructions of Agricultural Marketing Adviser issued from time to time .
(6) Jaggery of granular texture shall be packed separately from Jaggery with smooth texture.
8. Special conditions for grant of certificate of authorization.-
(1 ) In addition to the conditions specified in sub - rule ( 8 ) ofrule 3 of the General Grading and Marking Rules, 1988, every authorized packer shall follow all instructions prescribed by Agricultural Marketing Adviser from time to time .
(2) The authorized packer shall either set up his own laboratory manned by a qualified chemist approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser or an officer authorized by him in this befalfin accordance with Rule 9 ofthe General Grading and Marking Rules , 1988 for testing the quality of Jaggery or have access to the State Grading Laboratory or Private Commercial Laboratory approved for the purpose ;
(3) The premises for processing , grading and packing shall be maintained in prefect hygienic and sanitary conditions and should be fly Proof. The personnel engaged in these operations shall be in sound health and free from any infection, contagious or communicable diseases .
(4) The premises shall have adequate storage facilities with pucca floor which is and ventilation for light and air and free from rodent and insect infestation.

Grade designation and quality of Jaggery
1. Jaggery or Gur means the product obtained by boiling or processingjuice pressed out of Sugarcane (Saccharum Officinarum) or extracted from Palmyra palm (Borassus akeassii of family Arecaceae) , Date palm (Phoenix dactylifera) or Coconut palm (Cocos nucifera of family Arecaceae) for human consumption;
2. Minimum requirements :-
(i) Jaggery shall be:-
(a) well dried, of firm consistency - not sticky or plastic;
(b) having characteristic taste and flavour;
(c) clean and free from insect infestations , live insect, dead insects , insect fragments , mould/mites , larvae , rodent hair and excreta;
(d) free from fermented , and musty odour ;
(e) free from dirt or soil ;
(f) free from natural or synthetic colours , artificial sweetening agents;
(g) free from any fungal or bacterial contamination ;
(h) free from deleterious substances injurious to health;
(i) free from bleaching agents ;
(j ) free from added starch .
(ii) Jaggery shall comply with the residual level of Poisonous Metals (rule 57) , crop contaminants ( rule 57 -A), naturally occurring toxic substances (rule 57 -B) , Insecticides and Pesticides residues ( rule 65) and other food safety requirements as laid down under the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Rules , 1955 for domestic purposes.
(iii) Jaggery shall comply with the residual levels of heavy metals , pesticides residue and any other food safety requirements as prescribed under Codex Alimenterius Commission or importing countries requirement for export purposes .
(iv) Jaggery shall be sweet to the taste and should not possess a sour , salty or objectionable flavour.

4. Other requirements :
(i) The condition of the Jaggery shall be as to enable it :
to withstand transport and handling and
to arrive in satisfactory condition at the place of destination .
(ii) Special grade shall be made only from sugarcane juice which shall have been adequately clarified by means of vegetable activated carbon in addition to the common methods of clarification.
(iii) The interior of containers used for packing Jaggery of ' Special ' grade may be lined with clean plain packing paper.
(iv) The form of the Jaggery shall be marked on the packages such as :-
-Lumps or
-Bheli or
-Chaku or
-Luddoo ог
---Balti or
-Solid Cake or
---Cubes and bricks or
--Any other form
(v) The texture of Jaggery may be marked in the package.
5.Provisions concerning sizing/brokens :
For any consignment , 3% and 5 % by weight of Jaggery may be allowed as brokens for Standard and General grades respectively for accidental errors .
6. Provisions Concerning Colouring .( i) Jaggery may be of below mentioned colours :-
-light golden;
-golden;
-dark golden;
-light brown;
----brown;
(ii) The Jaggery for Special grade may be of light golden colour .
(iii) For each grade, the colour of Jaggery packed may be marked on the packet .
(iv) For each grade a tolerance of 5 % by weight is allowed for colour difference .
Explanations : -
Well dried.- means the material dried to such an extent as reasonably having due regard to climatic factors and conditions under which the produce may have been handled, transported or stored to maintain its colour , consistency and weight .
Clarified juice of Sugarcane. the process of clarification may be effected by means of any of the agents normally employed for the purpose including mucilaginous extract of Sukhlai (Kydia Calycina) , Deola (Hibiscus Ficulneous), Bhindi (Hibiscus esculentus ) etc. or sodium carbonate of food grade etc. or by adequately removing the scum during the boiling process .
Extraneous matter.-means any foreign matter consisting of bagasse , dirt , straws , edible grains , clay and sand.
