सं. 6-1/2006- बी.पी. - 2 ( अधिसूचना ) पी.यू.सी.एल. बनाम भारत संघ की 2001 की रिट याचिका ( सिविल ) संख्या 196 में दिनांक 12.7.2006 के उच्चतम न्यायालय के आदेश के अनुसरण में सार्वजनिक वितरण प्रणाली के उचित कार्यकरण को प्रभावित कर रही कमियों की जांच करने के लिए दिनांक 1.12.2006 की समसंख्यक अधिसूचना द्वारा न्यायमूर्ति डी. पी . वधवा की अध्यक्षता में केन्द्रीय सतर्कता समिति का गठन किया गया था । केन्द्रीय सतर्कता समिति का कार्यकाल उच्चतम न्यायालय के निर्देशों के अनुसार दिनांक 8.5.2007 की समसंख्यक अधिसूचना द्वारा 31.8.2007 तक बढ़ाया गया था । केन्द्रीय सतर्कता समिति का कार्यकाल दिनांक 13.2.2008 की समसंख्यक अधिसूचना द्वारा 11.1.2008 से और 6 माह के लिए बढ़ाया गया था और 8.4.2008 की समसंख्यक अधिसूचना के जरिए उच्चतम न्यायालय के निर्देशों के अनुसार 1.9.2007 से 10.1.2008 तक की बीच की बढ़ाई गई अवधि को केन्द्रीय सतर्कता समिति के बढ़े हुए कार्यकाल के रूप में माना गया था । उच्चतम न्यायालय के दिनांक 11.7.2008 और 17.4.2009 के निर्देशों के अनुसार दिनांक 18.7.2008 और 4.5.2009 की समसंख्यक अधिसूचनाओं के तहत केन्द्रीय सतर्कता समिति का कार्यकाल क्रमशः अप्रैल, 2009 और दिसम्बर, 2009 के अंत तक और बढ़ा दिया गया था ।
