सं. एफ. 9-31/ 2001 - यू. 3 ए जबकि " भारतीय विदेश व्यापार संस्थान ( आईआईएफटी ) " नई दिल्ली, को इस मंत्रालय की दिनांक 20 मई, 2002 की सम- संख्यक अधिसूचना के माध्यम से विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग ( यूजीसी ) अधिनियम, 1956 की धारा 3 के अंतर्गत एक सम - विश्वविद्यालय घोषित किया गया था, जो कतिपय शर्तों के अध्यधीन है जिसमें पांच वर्ष के बाद समीक्षा किया जाना शामिल है;
2. और जबकि, विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग ने इस उद्देश्यार्थ गठित विशेषज्ञ समिति के माध्यम से " आईआईएफटी " , नई दिल्ली की कार्यप्रणाली की समीक्षा की है;
3. और जबकि, विशेषज्ञ समिति की रिपोर्ट के आधार पर, विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग ने स्थायी आधार पर " आईआईएफटी ", नई दिल्ली के " सम विश्वविद्यालय " के दर्जे को जारी रखने की सिफारिश की है;
इसलिए, अब केन्द्र सरकार विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग अधिनियम, 1956 की धारा 3 के तहत् प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए तथा इस मामले पर विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग की सलाह के आधार पर, एतद्वारा उपर्युक्त अधिनियम के उद्देश्यार्थ " भारतीय विदेश व्यापार संस्थान ( आईआईएफटी ) " के सम-विश्वविद्यालय के दर्जे को कायम रखने का अनुमोदन प्रदान करती है, जो इस मंत्रालय की दिनांक 20 मई, 2002की सम- संख्यक अधिसूचना के अर्थों का कड़ाई से पालन करने तथा इस शर्त के अध्यधीन होगा कि वे विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग तथा अखिल भारतीय तकनीकी शिक्षा परिषद द्वारा समय - समय पर निर्धारित विनियमों तथा दिशानिर्देशों, जैसाकि विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग अधिनियम, 1956 की धारा 3 के अन्तर्गत बतौर सम- विश्वविद्यालय संस्थाओं पर लागू हों, की अनुपालना करेंगे और यह कि उनके द्वारा भारत सरकार द्वारा समय - समय पर जारी किए जाने वाले दिशा निर्देशों की भी अनुपालना की जाएगी ।

New Delhi - 1 , the 10th February 2012
No. F. 9-31 /2001 -U. 3A-Whereas " Indian Institute of Foreign Trade ( IIFT) " , New Delhi , was declared a deemed- to -be - university under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act , 1956 vide this Ministry's notification of even number dated the 20th May, 2002 subject to certain conditions that included a review after five years ;
2. And whereas , the UGC has reviewed the functioning of the " IIFT " , New Delhi , through an Expert Committee constituted for this purpose;
3. And , whereas , on the basis of the report of the Expert Committee , the UGC has recommended continuation of the status of 'Deemed- to-be - University' to " IIFT " , New Delhi , on a permanent basis ;
4.Now, therefore , the Central Government , in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, and on the advice ofthe UGC in the matter, do hereby accord approval to the continuance of " Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) " , New Delhi , as a deemed- to-be- university for the purpose ofthe aforesaid Act, strictly in terms of this Ministry's notification ofeven number dated the 20th May, 2002 subject to the conditions that they will adhere to the regulations and guidelines prescribed by the UGC and theAll India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) , from time to time , as are applicable to the institutions declared as deemed -to -be- universities under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 and that will also abide by directions issued by Government of India from time to time .
