Resolution
Subject: Constitution of Steel Consumers' Council --- regarding.
No. 5(3)/2016-SDI—Vide Resolution No. SC-1(1)/86-D-III dated 31st January, 1986, the then Ministry of Steel & Mines had constituted a Steel Consumers' Council (SCC) under the chairmanship of Minister for Steel & Mines consisting of representatives of the Government, Producers and Consumers of Iron and Steel, House Builders and related industries. The SCC is re-constituted from time to time, as and when the new Hon'ble Steel Minister assumes the charge of Minister of Steel. The functions of the SCC is to advise and assist the Central Government on matters relating to supply, availability, quality and the market trends of iron and steel.
2. The Steel Consumers' Council, under the Chairmanship of Hon'ble Minister for Steel Shri Chaudhary Birender Singh is reconstituted as under:-

3. The Council shall continue till its Chairman holds the office of Steel Minister. The initial tenure of the SCC will be two years from the date of this Resolution unless specifically extended or curtailed by the Central Government. The SCC shall meet as and when required.

Ordered that a copy of the above Resolution be communicated to all the State Governments, Union Territory Administrations, all the Ministries and the Departments of the Government of India including the Prime Minister's Office, Cabinet Secretariat, Parliament Secretariat, Planning Commission and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and all the members of the Steel Consumers' Council.

B. Functions
The functions of the Committee will be to advise the Ministry of Power in matters relating to the progressive use of
Hindi for Official work and allied issues falling within the frame-work of the Official Language policy laid down by the
Government of India.
C. Tenure
The tenure of the Committee will be three years from the date of its composition, provided that:-
1. A member of Parliament nominated to the Committee shall cease to be a member of the Committee as soon as
he/she ceases to be a member of Parliament.
2. Official members of the Committee shall continue as members as long as they hold office by virtue of which they
are the members of the Committee.
3. Any mid-term vacancy shall be filled up by the concerned member's successor in office, who shall be a member of
the Committee for the remaining term of three years.
D. General
The Headquarters of the Committee shall be at New Delhi but it may hold its meeting at any other station also.
E. Travelling and Other Allowances

Ordered that a copy of this resolution be communicated to all the members of the Committee, President's Secretariat, Vice President's Secretariat, Prime Minister's Office, Cabinet Secretariat, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, NITI Aayog, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, all Ministries and Departments of Government of India and all State Government and Union Territory Administrations.
Ordered also that the Resolution be published in the Gazette of India for general information.
