No. 11014/1/2016-Hindi-1—In supersession of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions Resolution No. 11014/1/2014-Hindi-I dated April 12, 2016, the Government of India, hereby, amends the Hindi Salahkar Samiti of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions with immediate effect. 2. FUNCTIONS

The Samiti will advise on the matters relating to progressive use of Hindi in official work of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions in accordance with the policies laid down by the Kendriya Hindi Samiti and the guidelines issued by the Department of Official Language in this regard from time to time.

3. Tenure

The tenure of the Samiti will ordinarily be three years from the earlier date of its constitution provided that :-

a) the Members of the Parliament who are members of the Samiti shall cease to be the members of the Samiti as soon as they cease to be the Members of the Parliament ;

b) the Members of the Parliament who are the members of the Samiti by virtue of their being members of the Committee of Parliament on Official Language shall cease to be the members of the Samiti as soon as they cease to be the Members of the Committee of Parliament on Official Language ;

c) Ex-officio members of the Samiti shall continue to be the members of the Samiti as long as they hold the office by virtue of which they are the members of the Samiti ; and

d) if any vacancy arises in the Samiti owing to death of a member or owing to tendering of resignation by a member or other reasons, the member so appointed against that vacancy shall hold office for the residual term of the Samiti.

4. General

The Headquarter of the Samiti will be at New Delhi.

5. Travelling and other allowances

For attending the meetings of the Samiti, Travelling Allowance and Daily Allowance will be admissible to the Non- Official Members as per the guidelines contained in the Department of Official Language Office Memorandum No. II/20034/4/86-O.L.(A-2) dated 22nd January, 1987 and the rates and rules revised by Govt. of India from time to time.

III. Official Members

2. FUNCTIONS OF THE COMMITTEE

The functions of the Committee will be to review the position and render advice with regard to progressive use of Hindi for official purpose in the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, its Attached/Subordinate Offices/Autonomous Bodies etc. in accordance with the constitutional provisions regarding Official Language Policy decisions of the Kendriya Hindi Samiti, Official Language Act & Rules and instructions & directions issued by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs on the subject.

3. Tenure

The term of the Committee will be ordinarily of three years from the date of formation provided that:-

(a) Members of Parliament who are the members of the Committee shall cease to be members as soon as they cease to be Members of Parliament.

(b) Ex-officio Members of the Committee shall continue as Members as long as they hold the office by virtue of which they are Members of the Committee.

(c) If a vacancy arises due to resignation or death of a Member, the Member so appointed in that capacity shall hold the office for the residual term of three years.

(d) Tenure of the Committee can be extended or curtailed in the special circumstances. 4. Travelling and other allowances

Non-Official members of the Committee will be paid travelling allowance and daily allowance for attending meetings of the Committee at the rates prescribed as per O.M. No. II/20034/4/86-O.L.(A-2) dated 22nd January, 1987 of Department of Official language and in accordance with the prescribed rates and rules as amended from time to time by the Government of India.

5. General

Headquarter of the Committee will be at New Delhi, but it may hold its meetings at any other station also.
