ORDER UNDER SECTION 144 Cr.P.C.

No. DM/MA/2020/10895—10919.—WHEREAS vide order No. 40-3/2020-DM-1(A), dated 24-03-2020, the Union Home Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India had issued an order under section 10(2)(1) of Disaster Management Act, stipulating lockdown measures for containment of COVID-19 in the country.
WHEREAS, now the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in continuation of that order has passed an order dated 30-5-2020 wherein lockdown has been extended in Containment zones upto 30-06-2020, and to reopen prohibited activities in a phased manner in areas outside Containment zones.
WHEREAS various guidelines have been issued in the above mentioned order including directions to the local authorities to issue prohibitory orders for prohibition of movement of individuals, for all non essential activities between 9:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, in modification of the order No. DM/MA/2020/9163 dated 03.05.2020, I, Mandip Singh Brar, District Magistrate, Union Territory, Chandigarh in exercise of powers vested with me under section 144 of Cr.P.C. do hereby order that there shall be prohibition of movement of individuals, for all non essential activities between 9:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M. Any breach of this order shall invite action under section 188 of Indian Penal Code.
This order shall come into force with effect from 00:00 hrs on 01.06.2020 and shall remain in force till further orders.
In view of the emergent nature of the order, it is being issued ex parte and is addressed to the public in general.
This order shall be promulgated by affixing copy thereof at the notice boards of the Office of District Magistrate, Chandigarh and publication in the newspaper having circulation in the area, through the Office of D.P.R. Chandigarh.
