Order Under Section 144 of the Cr.P.C.
The 1st July, 2020
No. DM/MA/2020/13335.—Whereas, vide order No. 40-3/2020-DM-1(A), dated: 24-03-2020, the Union Home Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India had issued an order under section 10(2)(1) of The Disaster Management Act, stipulating lockdown measures for containment of COVID-19 in the country.
Whereas, now the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, in continuation of that order has passed an order dated: 29.06.2020, wherein various guidelines have been issued for phased re-opening till 31.07.2020.
Whereas, various guidelines issued in the above mentioned order include directions to the local authorities to issue prohibitory orders for prohibition of movement of individuals for all non essential activities between 10:00 P.M. to 05:00 A.M.
Now, therefore, in modification of order no. DM/MA/2020/10895, dated: 31.05.2020, I, Mandip Singh Brar, District Magistrate, Union Territory, Chandigarh, in exercise of powers vested with me under section 144 of the Cr.P.C., do hereby order that there shall be prohibition of movement of individuals, for all non essential activities between 10:00 P.M. to 05:00 A.M. Any breach of this order shall invite action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
This order shall come into force with effect from 00:00 hrs. on 01.07.2020 and shall remain in force till further orders.
In view of the emergent nature of the order, it is being issued ex parte and is addressed to the public in general.
This order shall be promulgated by affixing copy thereof at the notice boards of the office of the undersigned and publication in the newspapers having circulation in the area, through the office of the D.P.R., Chandigarh.
