No. 7/3/332(28176)-FS&CA-2023/8267.—In pursuance to the instructions issued vide letter no. V-11/15/2020-BIS dated 08th April 2021 of Government of India, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh is pleased to constitute a State Level Committee on Standardization, as under :—

B. The Term of Reference of the committee to promote the use of Indian Standard to create a robust quality system in the state and protect the interest of the consumers shall be :—
i) Identifying areas for the formulation of new Indian Standards.
ii) Identifying products, processes and systems for enforcing compliance with Indian Standards.
iii) Measures for effective implementation of Quality Control (QCOs) issued by Govt. of India.
iv) Measures for awareness generation among consumers regarding Standards.
v) Any other activity to create a robust quality eco-system in the State.
C. The representatives of non-govt. bodies shall be nominated by the Chairperson of the SLCS, and the term of their engagement be three years. They can however, be re-nominated.
D. The Committee shall meet at least twice a year, and as many more times, as deemed fit by the Chairperson.
E. Heads of the BIS Branch Offices in the State shall provide necessary support to the member Secretary to convene the meetings and take follow-up action on the decisions taken in them. Head of the BIS Branch Office located in the State capital shall be the Nodal Branch Office for this purpose.
