ORDER

The 27th January, 2025

No. C-49071-HIII(2)-2025/1190.—WHEREAS, the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh is satisfied that any strike in the employment of Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) Union Territory, Chandigarh, shall affect the generation and maintenance of supply of electricity which is an essential service to the community and is likely to adversely affect the generation and supply of electricity to the public in the Union Territory of Chandigarh;

And, whereas, the Administrator, U.T, Chandigarh is further satisfied that the prohibition of strike by the employees of the said Corporation is in public interest and it is necessary to prohibit a strike;

Now, therefore, the Administrator, Union Territory of Chandigarh, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of The Haryana Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1974 (Haryana Act No. 40 of 1974) as extended to the Union Territory of Chandigarh (hereinafter referred to as said Act), hereby declares employment of Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) as an Essential Service to which the provisions of said Act shall apply.

Further, in exercise of powers conferred by Section 4A of the said Act, the Administrator, Union Territory of Chandigarh hereby prohibits strike in the employment of Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL), Union Territory, Chandigarh by any of their employees for a period of six months with immediate effect.
