a. Since Solar is the only Source of Renewable Energy due to it demography and land availability the UT Administration commits to the following plan of renewable energy capacity addition:
| Sector | 2024-25 | 2025-26 | 2026-27 | 2027-28 | 2028-29 | 2029-30 | Total |
| Solar Energy (GW) | 0.077 | 0.108 | 0.010 | 0.010 | 0.010 | 0.010 | 0.224 |
b. The Chandigarh Administration commits to the following renewable energy procurement plan, which may include from the capacity mentioned in 1(a) above, in compliance with the guidelines set forth by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and other relevant regulatory authorities :
| Sector | 2024- 25 | 2025- 26 | 2026- 27 | 2027- 28 | 2028- 29 | 2029- 30 | Total |
| Solar Energy (GW) | 0.0366 | 0.0388 | 0.0401 | 0.0416 | 0.0426 | 0.0435 | 0.2434 |
| Hydro Energy (Large) (GW) | - | - | 0.020 | 0.020 | 0.020 | 0.020 | 0.080 |
2.The Chandigarh Administration also commits to the following policy interventions:
a) Providing and enhancing the grid connectivity for the successful implementation and operation of renewable energy projects in the UT by ensuring timely and adequate grid connectivity for the proposed renewable energy projects in coordination with relevant State and Central agencies to facilitate the evacuation of renewable energy into the UT electricity grid systems.
b) Developing or upgrading transmission infrastructure to accommodate the additional load generated from these renewable energy projects coordinating with the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), State Load Dispatch Centers (SLDCs), and other relevant entities to ensure efficient evacuation of power from the Project sites.
c) Creating a conducive environment for renewable energy development by implementing supportive policies and regulatory frameworks by streamlining approval processes, considering UT-level incentives to developers and investors and aligning with national policies to promote renewable energy growth in the UT of Chandigarh.
3. In order to achieve the above policy commitments of the Chandigarh Administration the following Policy Measures are proposed to be taken for renewable energy projects:
i. Saturation of Rooftop of all Govt. buildings by Dec,2024. ii. Saturation of Rooftop of all Private buildings by Dec,2025. iii. Amendment in building Bye-Laws to make mandatory installation of Rooftop SPV Power Plants at houses above 250 Sq yrds. iv. As Chandigarh is a land locked city, we commit to cover all possible water bodies with Floating Solar Power Projects and all feasible Parking areas with High rise Solar Power Projects conserving the land resource of U.T., Chandigarh.
v. Planning to make all Govt. Departments NET ZERO by 2030.
