The 29th October, 2025
No. 498316-HIII (5)/2025/14887.—The Notification No. S.O. 4698 (E). dated 16.10.2025 issued by the office of Registrar General, India, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi (copy enclosed) to conduct the pre-test of first phase of Census of India, 2027 from 10th November, 2025 to 30th November 2025 with an option for self-enumeration from 1st November, 2025 to 7th November, 2025 is hereby republished for general information.

No. 498316-HIII(5)-2025/14892.— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-Section (2) of Section 4 of the Census Act, 1948, (37 of 1948) read with Rule 3 of Census Rules, 1990 as amended from time to time, the Administrator of Union Territory, Chandigarh is pleased to appoint the Officers noted in Column (2) of the Table below as Census officers with the designation shown against each in Column (3) thereof, to take, or aid in, or supervise the taking of, the Census of India 2027 within their respective jurisdiction mentioned against each in Column (4) of the table given below :

2. In exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (4) of section 4 of the said Act, the Administrator is further pleased to delegate to the Officers noted at Column (2) of the above Table the power of appointing census officers within their respective jurisdictions.
3. As per the provisions of Section 11 of the Census Act 1948,any Census officer or any person lawfully required to give assistance towards the taking of census and who refuses to perform any duty allotted to him/ her under this Act or any rule made thereunder, or any person who hinders or obstructs another person in performing any such duty, shall be punishable with fine upto one thousand rupees and in case of a conviction shall also be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to three years.

No. DO-2025/4329.—In exercise of the powers conferred under clause (ZV), Sub-section (1), Section 3 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 read with Sub Rule 10, Rule 3.1, Chapter 3 of the Food Safety and Standards Rules, 2011 framed there under, the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh is pleased to appoint Sh. Sandeep Gupta duly engaged as Consultant, in pursuance to the approval of the competent authority vide letter dated 23-09-2025, in the office of the Commissioner, Food Safety, UT, Chandigarh as Presenting Officer to act as such into the adjudication/ inquiries proceedings to be commenced under the Rules ibid before the Adjudicating Officer notified under Section 68 of the Act ibid.
