The 16th January, 2026

No. C-49071-HIII(2)–2026/550.—WHEREAS, the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, issued Order No. C-49071-HIII(2)-2025/11750 dated 25.08.2025, prohibiting strikes in the employment of Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) for the period ending on 26.01.2026;

AND WHEREAS, the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, is satisfied that the employment of Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) continues to be an essential service to the community and that any strike in the said employment shall adversely affect the generation and maintenance of the supply of electricity which is an essential service to the community and is likely to adversely affect the generation of supply of electricity to the public in the Union Territory of Chandigarh;

AND WHEREAS, the Administrator is further satisfied that it is necessary and expedient in the public interest to extend the prohibition of strikes in the said employment for a further period to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the transitional period of the Transfer Scheme;

NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-section (2) of Section 4A of The Haryana Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1974 (Haryana Act No. 40 of 1974) as extended to the Union Territory of Chandigarh, the Administrator, Union Territory of Chandigarh, hereby extends the prohibition of strike in the employment of Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL), Union Territory, Chandigarh, by any of their employees for a further period of six months w.e.f. 27.01.2026.
