NOTIFICATION
No. F 1-209/2019/18.- In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 355 read with Section 43 of the Chhattisgarh Municipalities Act, 1961 (No. 37 of l96l), the State Government, hereby, makes the following amendment in the Chhattisgarh Municipalities (Election of Vice-President) Rules, 1998, namely :-
In the said rules, -
l. In rule l, in sub-rule (1), before the word, Vice-President", the words "President and" shall be inserted. 2. In rule 2,-
(i) in clause (b), the words "the President and" shall be omitted; and
(ii)for clause (e), the following shall be substituted, namely :-
rrdqrrq ttqsd. k{is I 6 fr{rtn 2or9 r688 (l) "(e) "Presiding Authority" means an officer authorized by the State Election Commission under sub- section (2) of Section 55 of the Act;"
3. In rule 3, in sub-rule (l), before the word "Vice-President", the words "President and" shall be inserted. 4. In rule 4,-
(i) in sub-rule (l), before the word "Vice-President", the words "President and" shall be inserted; and (ii) after sub-rule (2),the following shallbe added, namely:-
"(3) Separate nomination papers will have to be submitted for the posts of President and the Vice- President."
5. In rule 6,-
'(i) in sub-rule (2), in clause (a), for the words and symbol, "Vice-President", the words and symbol "President or Vice-President, as the case may be," shall be substituted; and
(ii) after sub-rule (4), the following shall be added, namely:-
"(5) The procedure mentioned in sub-rule (l) to (a) shall be followed separately for the posts df the President and V ice-President."
6. [n rule 8, after the words and symbol "The presiding authority shall,", the words and symbol "Sequentially, for the posts of President and the Vice-President," shall be inserted.
7. In rule 9,-
(i) in sub-rule (l), before the words and symbol "Vice-President", the words "President and" shall be inserted; and
(ii) after sub-rule (2),the following shall be added, namely:-
"(3) The process mentioned in sub-rule (l) and (2) shall be followed separately forthe posts of the President and Vice-President."
8. In rule 10,-
(i) in sub-rule (1), after the words and symbol "box being unlocked." the words and symbol "Separate ballot-boxes shall be used for the election ofthe President and the Vice-President, and, as the case may be, the word 'President' or 'Vice-President' shall be prominently marked on the ballot-box." shall be added; and
(ii) after sub-rule (4), the following shall be added, namely:-
"(5) The voting shall be conducted sequentially first for the President and thereafter for the Vice- President."
g. In rule 11, after the words "The presiding authority shall", the words and symbol "sequentially, first in respect ofthe President and thereafter in respect ofthe Vice-President," shall be inserted.
10. In rule I3, after the words "has been completed", the words and symbol "sequentially, for the posts of the President and Vice-Presidento" shall be inserted.
I I . In rule 16, before the words and symbol "Vice-President", the words "President or" shall be inserted.
12. In Form-A, for the words and symbol "Vice-President", wherever they occur, the words and symbol "President/Vice-President" shall be substituted.
13. In Form-B, for the words and symbol "Vice-President", the words and symbol "Presidenflice-President" shall be substituted.
