NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 20th October 1947

No. I (3)-32 (l)/47.—In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the ESSENTIAL Supplies (Temporary Powers) Act, 1946 (Act XXIV of 1946) the Central Government is pleased to make the following Order, n a m e l y—

1. (1) Thin Order may be called the Woollen Goods (Control) Order, 1947.

(2) It extends to all the Provinces of the Dominion of India.

(8) It shall come into force at once

2. In this Order, unless there IS ANYTHING repugnant in the subject or context,

(a) "Woollen goods ' means any goods at the description specified in the Schedule to this Order manufactured wholly or partly from wool, but does not include any hand-woven goods manufactured from hand-spun yarn.

(b) " M a n u f a c t u r e r" means a person who manufactures any of the woollen goods.

(c) "Dealer" means a person CARRYING on the business of selling any WOOLLEN goods, whether wholesale or retail, and whether ML con- juncton with any other business or not 8 Every manufacturer shall complex with the directions which may here- after be issued by the Central Government regulating his programme of manu- facture over a specified period of the types and specifications of woollen goods which may be manufactured by him. 4. Every manufacturer or dealer shall comply with any general or specific orders t h at m ay he issued by the Central Government regarding the sale, dis- tribution or disposal of the whole or a specified part of his production a n d / or stocks, as the case may be, of woollen goods. 5. (I) The Central Government may by notification in the Official Gazette fix the prices at which woollen goods may be sold by manufacturers or dealers (ii) No manufacturer or dealer shall sell any woollen goods at a price exceeding the price fixed in this behalf by notification under Sub- clause (i).
