GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
MINISTRY OF COMMERCE
Office of the Chief Controller of Imports
PUBLIC NOTICE
New Delhi, the 25th November, 1947.
In the Public Notice issued on the 1st September 1947, it had been an- nounced that with the exception of licences for luxury goods, all import licences revalidated up to the 30th September 1947, and licences issued for orders placed before the 16th May 1947 under Open General Licences VII and VIII, were valid for shipment of goods before the 31st December 1947. It was also stated that this extension was final, but that special consideration may be given to licences for those .articles which normally take a considerable time to deliver.
2. A list of articles for which this special consideration is granted is appended in the schedule to this notice. The Government of India are pleased to announce that in respect of the articles enumerated in the Schedule, revalidated licences as well as licences issued for orders placed under Open General Licences VII and VIII will now stand automatically extended to the 30th June 1918 and will be valid for shipment before the date.
8. With the exception stated in para 2 above, all revalidated licences as well as licences issued for orders placed under Open General Licences VII and VIII, will now finally expire on the 31st December 1947 and will not be available for shipment after that date
4. Certain delays have occupied in the issue of fresh licences for the period July-December 1947 and Government are aware that hardships will he caused to many importers, if these licences terminate on the 31st December 1947. It has therefore been decided that licences issued for July December 1947 will be valid for shipment for a period of six months from the last day of the month in which the licencewasissued.
5. The decision in para 4 above will not however apply to licences for articles enumerated in the Schedule for1 which licences granted for July-Decem- ber 1947 will be automatically valid for shipment up to the 80th June 1948 irrespective of the date of its issue.
