exercise of the powers No. 11 (9 ) / 48- Genl . (A) .-- 11 conferred by 3b-section (3) of section 1 of the Exchange of Prisoners Ordinance , 1948 ( VI of 1948 ) , the Central Government is pleased to direct that the said Ordinance shall ome into force on the first day of September , 1948 , in all the Provinces other than East Punjab and in all the neceding States .
No. II (9 ) / 48 - Genl . (B) . In exercise of the powers conferred by sub - clause (is) of sub- section ( c) of section 2 of the Exchange of Prisoners Ordinance , 1948 ( I of 1948) , the Central Government is pleased to specify the following cate- gories of prisoners for the purposes thereof;
(i) in the Province of Delhi , Himachal Pradesh , the Patiala and East Punjab States Union and the United State of Matsya , prisoners in respect of whom the Provincial Government is satisfied that their families have migrated to Pakistan ; and
(ii) in any other Province or Acceding State , prisoners who , having been persons , in the Civil service of the Crown in India before the 15th August 1947 and having been given the option , opted for service in Pakistan , and in respect of whom the Provincial Government is satisfied that their families have migrated to Pakistan .
No. II (9 ) / 48-Genl . ( C) . In exercise of the powers conferred by sub -section ( L) of section 9 of the Exchange of Prisoners Ordinance , 1948 ( VI of 1948 ) , the Coatral Government is pleased to specify-
(a) the Secretary to the Government of East Punjab in the Home Depart- ment , and
(b) any officer duly authorised by the said Secretary in this behalf , as the officers to whom the custody of prisoners confined or detained in Pakistan in to be delivered in pursuance of the agreement reached between the Govern- mant of India and the Government of Pakistan .
