IMPORT TRADE CONTROL
New Delhi , the 29th October 1948
No. 21 ( 47 )- ITC/ 48 . Biscaut making industry is already established in India and with the introduction of the (Capital Goods Licensing Scheme several licences for import of Biscuit Plant have been granted from time to time .
2. The position about Biscuit industry was examined by an Industrial Panel which had recommended the maximum capacity upto which industry may expand and also suitable places at which new factories may be set up . All outstanding applications have since been dealt with after taking into account the Panel's recommendations , and several heences have recently been issued .
3. As India's requirements will be adequately covered by the existing factories and also new factories which may be set up as a result of import licences issued , it has been decided that no fresh licences for import of biscuit making plants for setting up new factories should be granted until the Govern- ment have had an opportunity of fwther reviewing the position .
4.It is accordingly hereby notified that no application for a licence for import of Biscuit making machinery with a view to installation of new biscuit tactories will be entertained for a period of one year .
