The following Act of the Dominion Legislature received the assent of the Governor General on the 24th February , 1949 , and is hereby published for goneral information:-

An Act further to amend the code of Criminal Procedure , 1898 .
WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Code of Criminal Procedure , 1898 ( V of 1898 ) , for the purpose hereinafter appearing ;
It is hereby enacted as follows : -
1. Short title , extent and commencement .-(1) This Act may be called the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Act , 1949 .
(2 ) It shall extend to the whole of the Dominion of India .
(8) it shall come into force at once .
2. Amendment of section 488 , Act V of 1898. After the first proviso to Bub- section ( 3) of section 485 of the Code of Criminal Procoduro , 1808 (V of 1808 ) , the following shall be added , namely:-
" If a husband has contracted marriage with another wife or keeps a misthess it shall be considered to be just ground for his wife'si refusal to live with him . "
