NOTICE
New Delhi , the 25th February 1949
The Government of India have learnt , with deep regret , of the death from heart failure on the 25th February , of Dr. Syud Hossain , Indian Ambassador to Egypt . Dr. Hossain was a staunch nationalist who , over a period of thirty years , dedicated his unusual gifts as a speaker and writer , to unfaltering service of India's strug- gle for freedom . In January 1948 , he was appointed India's first Ambassador to Egypt where his broad and comprehensive culture won him many friends and helped materially to promote friendship between India and Egypt . By his sudden and premature demise , India has lost a tried patriot and distinguished public servant who will be mourned not only by his countrymen but by a wide circle of friends in many lands , for Dr. Hossain's patriotism and culture were enriched by a rare capacity for friendship .
