IMPORT TRADE CONTROL

SUBJECT - Consideration of old cases
No. 2B ( 252 ) -ITO / 49 . It has been observed that many communications are still being received in respect of applications made for July/ December 1948 licensing period and January / June 1949 period as well as for old applications made for OGL VIJ concessions and revalidation of 1947 licences It has been noticed that in spite of final decisions having been communicated to the parties , representations are still being made . It has been considered necessary to curtail , as far as possible , correspondenco pertaining to old cases which do not really add any new points which have not already been presented at the time when the first request was made It has therefore , been decided that appeals and representations and other communications pertainng to such old cases will not be entertained in future unless these are in reply to a letter from the Chief Controllen of Imports or his officers at the ports dated later than the 15th October 1949 and such replies will only be considered if they are received before the 1st December 1949 .
2. It is hoped that the trade will fully co - operate in this respect as under pressure in respect of old correspondence will retard work connected with licensing for the current half year which in the general interest should now be pressed forward with the maximum energy .
