NOTIFICATIONS
New Delhi, the 19th December, 1949
No. CA/7fl/Ser/49-IX.-WHEREAS the seats of the member of the Con- stituent Assembly of India specified in Schedule i to this notification represent- ing the Province of Madras shall, be virtue of clause (3) of article 379 of the Constitution of India, become vacant as from the 26th January, 1950;
AND WHEREAS under clause (4) of the said article steps may be taken for the filling of thed said vacancies notwithstanding that such vacancies have nob occurred;
Now, THEREFORE, the President of the Constituent Assembly is pleased-
(a) in pursuance of sub-rule (1) of rule 5 of the Constituent Assembly Rules, to call upon the members of the Madras Legislative Assembly to elect in accordance with the said Rules-persons for the purpose of filling the said vacancies; and
(b) in pursuance of sub-rule (5) of rule 5 of the said Rules, to direct that the persons to fill the seats held by the members of the Constitu- ent Assembly specified in Schedule II to this notification shall belong to the Scheduled Castes, and the persons to fill the seats held by the members of the said Assembly specified in Schedule TIT to this notification shall belong to the Muslim community.
