NOTIFICATIONS
New Delhi , the 31st August 1963
S.O. 2511.- Whereas sub - section ( 1 ) of section 53 of the Government of Union Territories Act , 1963 , provides that , as soon as practicable after the commence- ment of that Act , an election shall be held in accordance with law to fill the seat in the House of the People allotted to the Union Territory of Pondicherry;
And whereas the Government of Union Territories ( Removal of Difficulties ) Order No. 3 further provides that the said election shall be deemed to be an elec- tion to fill a casual vacancy;
Now, therefore , in exercise of the powers conferred by sub - section ( 1 ) of sec- tion 149 of the Representation of the People Act , 1951 , the Election Commission hereby calls upon the Pondicherry Parliamentary Constituency to elect before the 10th October , 1963 , in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the Rules and Orders made thereunder , a person to fill the said vacancy .

2.0 . 2512.- In pursuance of the provisions of section 30 of the Representation of the People Act , 1951 , the Election Commission hereby appoints , with respect to the election to be held in the Pondicherry Parliamentary Constituency , in pursuance of its notification No. 100/ POND / HP / 63 ( 1 ) , dated the 31st August , 1963 :
(a) the 7th September , 1963 as the last date for making nominations ;
(b) the 9th September , 1963 , as the date for the scrutiny of nominations ;
(c ) the 12th September , 1963 , as the last date for the withdrawal of candi- datures;
(d) the 3rd October , 1963 , as the date on which a poll shall , if necessary , be taken; and
(e) the 10th October , 1963 , as the date before which the election shall be completed.

S.O. 2513. In pursuance of section 56 of the Representation of the People Act. 1951 , the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. as the hours during which a poll shall , if necessary , be taken for the election to the House of the People from Pondicherry Parliamentary Constituency to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100 / POND / HP / 63 ( 1 ) , dated the 31st August, 1963 .
