NOTIFICATION
New Delhi , the 16th September 1963
S.O. 2655. Whereas the Election Commission has , in its notification No. 100 / POND / HP/ 63 , dated the 31st August , 1963 , made under section 30 of the Representation of the People Act , 1951 ( 43 of 1961 ) , appointed the 3rd October , 1963, as the date on which a poll shall , if necessary , be taken at the election to the House of the People from Pondicherry parliamentary constituency ;
And whereas this has the effect under section 126 of the said Act of prohibit- ing the holding of public mectings of any kind anywhere within the Union Territory of Pondicherry on the 2nd October , 1963 , which is Gandhi Jayanti day;
And whereas it is necessary in the public interest that there should be no such prohibition on that day ;
Now, therefore , in exercise of the powers conferred by section 30 of the said Act, the Election Commission hereby amends its aforesaid notification by substitut- ing for the words " 3rd October " in clause ( d ) thereof the words " 4th October " .
