NOTIFICATIONS

New Delhi, the 6th April 1967

S.O. 1227.—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the seats allotted to the State of Kerala in the Council of States by reason of the resignation of Shri M. N. Govindan Nair;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of sec- tion 147 of the said Act, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Kerala to elect, in accord- ance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made there- under, a person to fill the vacancy so caused before the 28th April, 1967.

S.O. 1228.—In pursuance of the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/KL-CS/2/67(l), dated the 6th April, 1967—

(a) the 13th April, 1967, as the last date for making nominations; (b) the 15th April, 1967, as the date for the scrutiny of nominations; (c) the 17th April, 1967, as thelast date for the withdrawal of candidatures; (d) the 26th April, 1967, as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, betaken; and (e) the 28th April, 1967, as the date before which the election shall be completed. S.O. 1230.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 of the Representa- tion of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission, In consultation with the Government of Kerala, hereby designates the Secretary, Legislative Assembly Kerala to be the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/KL-CS/2/67( 1), dated the fith April 1967.

S.O. 1231.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-secticn (1) of sec- tion 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints the Deputy Secretary, Legislative Assembly Kerala, Trivandrum to assist the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/KL-CS/2/67U), dated the 6th April 1967, in the performance of his funciinns.
