NOTIFICATIONS
New Delhi, the 8th April 1967
S.O. 1254.—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the seats allotted to the State of Maharashtra in the Council of States by reason of the resignation of Shri Udhavrao Sahebrao;
Now. therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 147 of the said Act. the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected mem- bers of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Maharashtra to elect, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder, a person to fill the vacancy so caused before the 5th May. 1967.

S.O. 12S5.—In pursuance of the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No, 100/MT-CS/2/67(l). dated the 8th April, 1967:—

J(Jij)] S.O. 1256.—-In pursuance of section 56 of the Representation of the People Act,1951, the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. as the hours during which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/MT-CS/2/67 (1), dated the 8th April, 1967.

8.0. 1257.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 ol the RepresenLa- tion of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission, in consultation with the Government of Maharashtra, hereby designates Shri A. B. Palekar, Deputy Secre- tary, Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat to be the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/ MT-CS/2/67(l), dated the 8th April, 1967.

8.0. 1258.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 22 of "the Representation of th.e People Act, 1951, the Election Commission "hereby appoints Shri G. G. Kudelkar, Under Secretary t Maharashtra Legislature Secre- tariat to assist the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/MT-CS/2/67(l), dated the 8th April, 1967. in the performance of his functions.
