NOTIFICATION
New Delhi , the 12th April 1967
G.S.R. 566. In exercise of the powers conferred by section12 of the Govern- ment Savings Certificates Act , 1959 ( 48 of 1959 ) , the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Post Office Savings Certificates Rules , 1960 , namely :-
1. These rules may be called the Post Office Savings Certificates ( First Amendment ) Rules , 1967 .
2. In the Post Office Savings Certificates Rules , 1960 , after rule 31A, the following rule shall be inserted, namely:-
"31 B. Amount payable on certificates retained after maturity-
( i ) The holder of a 12 - Year or a 7 - Year National Savings Certificate or a 10 - Year National Plan Certificate may continue to hold the certificate after maturity for a further period not exceeding five years and earn interest thereon for each completed period of six months , for which the certificate is retained with the Government after maturity ,

(ii ) The holder of such a certificate shall at the time of encashment of that certificate be entitled to be paid, inaid, in addition to the maturity value of the certificate , interest as follows :--
(a) In respect of a 12 -Year or a 7 - Year National Savings Certificate which has matured on any date during the period 1st April , 1962 to 30th September , 1966 , and which is encashed on or after 1st April, 1967 , interest shall be paid in accordance with Table A or Table B below , as the case may be , up to the six monthly period ending on or immediately after the 1st October , 1966 , and for the subsequent six monthly periods interest in accord- ance with Table Dor Table E below , as the case may be , shall be paid.
(b) In respect of 12 -Year or a 7 - Year National Savings Certificate which matures on or after the 1st October , 1966 , interest shall be paid in accordance with Table D or Table E below , as the case may be.
(c) In respect of a 10 - Year National Plan Certificate which has matured on any date during the period from the 10th May, 1964 to the 30th September , 1966 and which is encashed on or after 1st April , 1967 interest shall be paid in accordance with Table C up to the six monthly period ending on or immediately after the 1st October , 1986 and for the subsequent six monthly periods interest in accordance with Table F shall be paid .
(d) In respect of a 10 -Year National Plan Certificate which matures on or after the 1st October , 1966 interest shall be paid in accord- ance with Table F below.
