NOTIFICATIONS

New Delhi, the 15th April 1967

S.O. 1353.—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the seats allotted to the State of Mysore in the Council of States by reason of the election of Shri C. M. Poonacha to the House of the People and the consequent vacation by him of his seat in the Council of States in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of section 69 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of sec- tion 147 of the said Act, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Mysore to elect, in accord- ance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made there- under, a person to fill the vacancy so caused before the 5th May, 1967.

S.O. 1354.—In pursuance of the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/MY-CS/l/67(l), dated the 15th April, 1967.

(a) the 22nd April, 1967, as the last date for making nominations; (b) the 24th April, 1967, as the date for the scrutiny of nominations; (c) the 26th April, 1967, as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures; (d) the 3rd May, 1967, as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, betaken; and (e) the 5th May, 1967, as the date before which the election shall be com- pleted. S.O. 1355.—In pursuance of section 56 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 11.00 A.M. to 4.00 P.M. as the hours during which a poll shall, if necessary, bo taken for the election to the Council of States to be hold in pursuance of its notification No. 100/MY- CS/1/67C1), dated the 15th April, 1987.

S.O. 1356.—In exercise of .the powers conferred by section 21 of the Represen- tation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission, in consultation with the Government of Mysore, hereby designates the Secretary, Mysore Legislature to be the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/MY-CS/1/67C1), dated the, ]5th April, 1967. [No. 100/MY-CS/l/67(4).]

S.O. 1357.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of sec- tion 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints the Deputy Secretary, Mysore Legislature to assist the Keturn- ing Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 10O/MY-CS/1/67U), dated the 15th April, 1987, in the perform- ance of his functions.
