NOTIFICATIONS

New Delhi, the 17th April 1967

S.O. 1361.—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the seats allotted to the State of Rajasthan In the Council of States by reason of the election of Shri Ramesh Chandra to the House of the People and the consequent vacation by him of his seat in the Council of States in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of section 60 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951;

Now, therefore, In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 147 of the said Act, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rajasthan to elect, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder, a person to fill the vacancy so caused before the 6th May, 1967. [No. 100/RJ-CS/1/67(1).] S.O. 1362.—In pursuance of the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of Its notification No. 100/RJ-CS/1/67(1), dated the 17th April, 1967—

(a) the 24th April, 1997, as the last date for making nominations; (b) the 25th April, 1967, as the date for the scrutiny of nominations; (c) the 27th April, 1967, as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures; (d) the 4th May, 1967, as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken; and (e) the 6th May, 1967, as the date before which the election shall be completed- [No. 100/RJ-CS/l/67(2).l (945) 94^ THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY [PART II-Stc. S.O. 1363.—In pursuance of section 56 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 9-00 A.M. to 1 P.M. as the hours during which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/RJ-CS/ 1/67(1), dated the 17th April, 1967.

S.O. 1364.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 of the Repre- sentation of the People Act, 1951. the Election Commission, in consultation with the Government of Rajasthan. hereby designates the Secretary, Rajasthan Legis- lative Assembly, to be the Returning¹ Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/RJ-CS/l/67(l), dated the 17th April, 1967-

S.O. 1365.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints the Deputy Secretary, Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, to assist the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of Its notification No. 100/RJ-CS/l/"7(l), dated the 17th April, 1967, in the per- formance of his functions.
