NOTIFICATIONS
New Delhi, the 17th April, 1967
S.O. 1378.—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the seats allotted to the State of Uttar Pradesh in the Council of States by reason of the election of Shrimati Indira Gandhi to the House of the People and the consequent vacation by her at her seat in the Council of States in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of section 69 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951;
Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of sec- tion 147 of the said Act, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Uttar Pradesh to elect, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder, a person to fill the vacancy so caused before the 6th May, 1967.

S.O. 1377.—In pursuance of the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby ap- points for the elections to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/UP-CS/1/67 (1), dated the 17th April, 1967,—
(a) the 24th April, 1987, as the last date for making nominations; (b) the 25th April, 1967, as the date for the scrutiny of nominations; (c) the 27th April. 1967, as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures; (d) the 4th May, 1967, as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be
taken; and

S.O. 1379.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 of the Repre- sentation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission, in consultation with the Government of Uttar Pradesh, hereby designates the Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Legislature to be the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be hftld In pursuance of its notification No. 100/UP-CS/1/67U), dated the 17th April, 1S67.
