ORDER
New Delhi , the 2nd November 1964
G.S.R. 1603.- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub - rule ( 2 ) of rule 125 of the Defence of India Rules , 1962 , the Central Government hereby makes the following Order , namely: --
1. (1 ) This Order may be called the Sugar ( Prohibition of Manufacture and Sale of Grain- Sizes A and B) Order, 1964 .
(2) It extends to the whole of India.
(3 ) It shall come into force at once .
2. In this Order , " Chief Director" means the Chief Director in the Directroate of Sugar and Vanaspati , Ministry of Food and Agriculture , and includes an Addi- tional Chief Director , aDirector , an Officer on Special Duty , a DirectorDirector and a Deputy Direc- tor in that Directorate .
3. No person shall manufacture , sell or offer to sell sugar of grain -- sizes A and B. as described in the publication of the Indian Standards Institution " No. IS : 498- 1963 - Grading for Vacuum Pan Sugar ( Plantation White ) " as amended in May, 1964:
Provided that nothing contained in this clause shall apply to any such sugar manufactured before the commencement of this Order .
4. The Chief Director or any other officer authorised by the Central Govern- ment in this behalf may-
( a) enter and search or authorise any person to enter and search the pre- mises of any person carrying on the business of manufacturing or selling sugar ;
( b) seize , or authorise any person to seize , stocks of sugar in respect of which he has reason to believe that a contravention of this Order has been, or is being , or is about to be committed.
