IMPORT TRADE CONTROL

SUBJECT :-Import of ( i ) Fruitsof ( i ) Fruits dried, salted or preserved all sorts no.8 . excluding Dates , [ S. No. 21 ( a ) ( ii ) / IV ] , ( ii ) Dates [ S. No. 21 ( b ) / IV ] , ( iii ) Medi- cinal Herbs ( Crude Drugs ) (S. No. 87-109 - IV ) , ( iv ) Asafoetida [ S. No. 31 ( b ) / V ] and other miscellaneous items from Iran during October 1964-March , 1965 licensing period .
No. 1 - ITC ( PN ) /65.-Attention is invited to the late Ministry of International Trade Public Notice No. 36 - ITC ( PN ) / 64 dated 30th April 1964 as amended by the Ministry of Commerce Public Notices Nos . 53 - ITC ( PN) / 64 dated 24th June 1964 and 94- ITC ( PN ) / 64 dated 13th November , 1964 for import of various items as enume- rated therein from Iran during April-September 1964 licensing period .
2. It has been decided to grant ad hoc licences to the eligible Established Importers having past imports from Iran of the commodities as detailed in the Annexure to this Public Notice , during the prescribed basic years as shown therein , for October 1964- March 1965 licensing period , within the monetary ceilings fixed for each item .
3. Established importers who are eligible in terms of the policy should submit their applications to the respective licensing authority viz . the Joint Chief Control- ler of Imports and Exports , Bombay or the Joint Chief Controller of Imports and ports , ( C.L.A. ) , NewNew Delhi on or before the 21st January , 1965 , in the usual form and manner complete in all respects , supported by documentary evidence in respect of past imports of the said item from Iran during any financial year within the basic years as indicated in the annexure to this Public Notice . All incomplete applications are liable to be rejected finally and will not be consi- dered at appeals stage , as ceiling earmarked for each item would have been exhausted .
4. Import licences granted in eligible cases will be valid for import from Iran either by Sailing Vessels or land route . However , in the case of dates , at least upto 60 % of the face value of the licences , import should be effected by Sailing Vessels or by the land route , and the balance upto 40 % by other means viz , steamship , if the licensees so desire , at any time during the validity period of the licences . In the case of ' dry fruits ' , import from Iran will also be allowed by steamships upto the full value of the licences . Such imports will be on c.i.f. basis .
5. The import licences issued in pursuance of this Public Notice will be valid upto the 15th April , 1965 and will not be extended further under any circumstances .

The licences should be returned to the licensing authority concerned not later than the 30th June, 1965. Failure to do so will render the concerned importers Hable to not being considered for grant of licences any time after 30th June 1965 when next applications for import from Iran are considered , even if they are eligible otherwise .
