IMPORT TRADE CONTROT.

Sun. Import of ( i ) Fruits dried , salted or preserved all sorts n.o.s. excluding Dates [ S. No. 21 ( a ) ( ii ) / IV ] , ( ⅱ) Dites [ S. No. 21 ( b ) / IV ] , ( iii ) Medici- nal Herbs ( Crude Drugs ) ( S No. 87-109 - IV ) , ( iv ) Asafoetida [ S. No. 31 ( b ) / V ] and other miscellaneous items from Iran duringduring April September '65 licensing period .
No. 40 - ITC ( PN ) 65. Consequent on the extension of Indo - Iran Trade Arrange-- ment which was concluded on 11th March , 1964 , it has been decided to grant ad hoc licences to the eligible Established Importers having past imports from Iran of the commodities as detailed in the Annexure to this Public Notice , during the prescribed basic years as shown therein for April- September '65 licensing period , within the monetary ceilings fixed for each item .
2. Established importers who are eligible in terms of the policy should submit their applications to the respective licensing authority viz . the Joint Chief Controller of Imports and Exports , Bombay or the Joint Chief Controller of Imports and Exports , ( C.L.A. ) , New Delhi on or before the 15th July , 1965 , in the usual form and manner complete in all respects , supported by documentary evidence in respect of past imports of the said item from Iranan during any financial year within the basic years as indicated in the annexure to this Public

Notice. All incomplete applications are liable to be rejected finally and will not be considered at appeals stage , as the ceiling earmarked for each item would have been exhausted.
3. Import licences granted in eligible cases will be valid for import from Iran either by Sailing Vessels or land route . However , in the case of ' dates' , at least upto 60% of the face value of the licences , import should be effected by Sailing Vessels or by the land route , and the balance upto 40 % by other means viz . steam- ship, if the licensecs so desire , at any time during the validity period of the licences . In the case of ' dry fruits' import from Iran will also be allowed by steamships upto the full value of the licences . Such imports will be on c.i.f , basis .
4. The import licences issued in pursuance of this Public Notice will be valid upto the 31st December , 1965 and will not be extended further under any cir- cumstances . The licences should be returned to the licensing authority concerned not later than the 15th of March , 1966. Failure to do so will estop the concerned importers from being considered for grant of licences anyany time after 15th March , 1966 when applications for import from Iran are next considered, even if they are eligible otherwise .
