NOTIFICATIONS New Delhi, the 6th September 1965
S.O. 2788.—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the seats allotted to the State of Orissa in the Council of States by reason of the death of Shri Mahendra Bahadur Raja Sankar Pratap Singh Deo;
Now, therefore, in pursuance of sub-section (1) of section 147 of the Repre- sentation of the People Act, 1851, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Orissa to elect, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the Rules and Orders made thereunder, a person to fill the vacancy so caused, before the 30th September, 1965. [No. 100/OR-CS/l/65(1).]
S.O. 2789.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its Notification No. 100/OR-CS/1/65(1), dated the 6th September, 1965.—
fa) the 13th September, 1965 as the last date for making nominations; (b) the 15th September, 1965. as the date for the scrutiny of nominations; (c) the 18th September, 1965, as the last date for the withdrawal of candi-

8.0' 2791.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 of the Repre- sentation of the People Act, 1901, the Election Commission, in consultation with the Government of Orissa, hereby designates the Secretary, Orlssa Legislative Assembly Department, Bhubaneswar to Be the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of the Election Commission's Notification No. 100/OR-CS/1/65C1), dated the 6th September, 1968.

U79Z.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1981, the Election Commission hereby appoints the Assistant Secretary, Orissa Legislative Assembly Department Bhubaneswar, to assist the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of the Election Commission's Notification No, 100/OR-CS/1/65(1), dated the 6th September, 1965, in the performance of his functions.
