NOTIFICATION
CENTRAL EXCISES
New Delhi , the 27th June 1966
G.S.R. 1054. In exercise of the powers conferred by sub - rule ( 1 ) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules , 1944 , the Central Government hereby exempts french polish falling under Item No. 14 of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act , 1944 ( 1 of 1944 ) from the whole of the duty of excise leviable thereon : Provided that-
(1) no process in or in relation to the manufacture of which , including pack- ing, is ordinarily carried on with the aid of power ; and
(11) no other article assessable as pigments , colours , paints , enamels , var- nishes , blacks or cellulose lacquers assessable under the said Item No. 14 is manufactured by the manufacturer claiming exemption in respect of french polish under this notification .
a Explanation . For the purpose of this notification , " French polish " means solution mainly of shellac in denatured spirit but not containing any drying oil or any artificial or synthetic resin .
