8.O. 426.- Whereas the Central Government is of opinion that in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Export ( Quality Control and Inspection) Act, 1963 (22 of 1963 ) , Pig Iron mentioned in Annexure I to this notification should be subject to inspection prior to export ;
And whereas the Central Government has formulated the proposals specified below for the said purpose and has forwarded the same to the Export Inspection Council , as required by sub - rule ( 2 ) of rule 11 of the Export ( Quality Control and Inspection ) Rules , 1964;
Now, therefore , in pursuance of the said sub - rule , the Central Government publishes the said proposals for the information of the public likely to be affected thereby.
2. Notice is hereby given that any person desiring to forward any objection or suggestion with respect to the said proposals may forward the same within thirty days of the date of publication of this notification to the Export Inspection Council , World Trade Centre' , 14/ 1B, Ezra Street ( 7th floor ) , Calcutta - 1 .
PROPOSALS
( 1 ) To notify that the said pig iron shall be subject to inspection prior to export;
( 2) To specify the type of inspection in accordance with the draft Export of Pig Iron (Inspection ) Rules , 1967 , set out in Annexure II to this notification , as the type of inspertion which would be applied to such pig iron;

IS : 225-1957
( i ) pig iron ( charcoal )
IS : 224-1958
( ii) pig iron ( Coke )
( 1) pig iron for special pur- IS : 2841-1964 poses
IS: 2842-1964
( iv) basic pig iron ( Coke ) for steel making purposes
issued by the Indian Standards Institution for pig fron , and
(b) the specifications as declared by the exporter to be the agreed speci- fications of the export contract for pig iron,
Is the standard specifications for pig iron ;
(4 ) To prohibit the export , in the course of international trade , or any of such pig non umess the same is either accompanied by a cercertificatete issued byby the Indian Standards Institution recognised for the purpose by the Central Govern- ment under section 7 of the Export ( Quality Control and Inspection ) Act , 1963 ( 22 of 1963 ) , to the effect that pig iron conforms to the specifications recognised under sub -paragraph ( 3 ) , or is affixed with a mark or seal recognised by the Central Government under section 8 of the said Act .
4. In this notification " pig iron " shall mean the following items of pig iron as of samples of any such pig iron to prospective buyers .
4. In this notification " pig fron " shall mean the following items of pig iron as described in the Indian Standard mentioned against each , namely:-

2. Pig iron ( Coke )
3. Pig iron ( Coke) for steel IE : 2842..1964
IS: 2842-1964

ANNEXURE II
Draft rules proposed to be made under section 17 of the Export ( Quality Control and Inspection ) Act , 1963
1. Short title and commencement .- ( 1 ) These rules may be called the Export of Pig Iron ( Inspection ) Rules , 1967 .
( 2) They shall come into force on 31st March , 1967 .
1. Definition . In these rules Pig Iron shall mean the following items of pig iron as described in the Indian Standards mentioned against each , namely
IS: 225-1957
1. Pig iron ( Charcoal )
IS: 224-1958
2. Pig iron ( Coke )
3. Pig iron for special purposes JS: 2841-1964
4. Basic pig iron ( Coke ) for steel -IS : 2842-1964 making purposes.
3. Procedure of Inspection and Certification . The provision of the Indian Standards Institution ( Certification Marks ) Act , 1952 (36 of 1952 ) , the Indian Standards Institution ( Certification Marks ) Rules . 1955, and the Indian Standards Institution ( Certification Marks ) Regulations , 1955 and the procedure laid down by the Indian Standards Institution in this behalf shall, so far as may be , apply to the inspection of pig iron and certification thereof , prior to export .

8.0 . 427. Whereas the Central Government , in exercise of the powers con- ferred by section 8 of the Export ( Quality Control and Inspection ) Act , 1963 ( 22 of 1963 ) , proposes to recognise the Indian Standards Institution Certification Mark with respect to Pig iron for the purpose of denoting that where pig iron is affixed with such mark, itit shall be deemed to be in conformity with the standard speci- fication applicable thereto under clause ( c) of section 6 of the said Act ;
And whereas the Central Government has forwarded the aforesaid proposal to the Export Inspection Council as required by sub - rule ( 2 ) of rule 11 of the Export ( Quality Control and Inspection) Rules, 1964;
Now, therefore , in pursuance of the said sub - rule , the Central Government hereby publishes the said proposal for the information of the public likely to be affected thereby .

8.O. 428. In exercise of the powers conferred by section ( 7 ) of the Export (Quanty Control and Inspection ) Act , 1963 ( 22 of 1983 ) , the Central Government hereby recognises the Indian Standards Institution as the agency for inspection of any of the pig iron specified in the schedule below prior to export .
