NOTIFICATIONS New Delhi, the 13th March 1967

S.O. 851.—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the seats allotted to the State of Andhra Pradesh in the Council of States by reason of the election of Shri N. Sanjiva Reddy to the House of the People and the consequent vacation by him of his seat in the Council of States in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of section 69 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 147 of the said Act, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected mem- bers of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Andhra Pradesh to elect, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder, a person to fill the vacancy so caused before the 3rd April- 1967-

[No- 100/AP-CS/1/67(1).] S.O. 852.—In pursuance of the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/AP-CS/l/67(l), dated the 13th March, 1967.

(a) the 20th March, 1967, as the last date for making nominations; (b) the 21st March, 1967, as the date for the scrutiny of nominations; (c) the 23rd March, 1967, as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures: (d) the 30th March, 1967, as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken; and (e) the 3rd April. 1967, as the date before which the election shall be com- pleted. S.C* 853.—In pursuance of section 56 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, tijie Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 10-00 a-m. to 4-00 p-ni. as the Jtours during which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken for the election to the Couiicil of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No- iOO/AP-CS/1/ 67(1), da\ed the 13th March, 1967.

S.O. 854. ^M exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 of the Represen- tation of JtaeRlljeple Act, 1951, the Election Commission, in consultation with the Government of Xndhra Pradesh, hereby designates the Secretary, Andhra Pradesh State Legislative to be the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be hdld in pursuance of its notification No- 100/AP-CS/1/67Q), dated the Wth Marc^ 1967.

S.O. 855.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appcir.fs the Assistant Secretary (Committees) Legislative Department to assist the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No- 100/AP-CS/l/67(l), dated the 13th March, 1967, in the per- formance of his functions.
