NOTIFICATIONS

New Delhi, the 20th March 1967

S.O. 981 —Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the seats allotted to the State of Haryana in the Council of States by reason of the election of Shri Abdul Ghani to the House of the People and the consequent Vacation by him of his seat in the Council of States in accordance with the provisions of sub section (2) of section 69 of the Representation of the People Act 1951,

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 147 of the said Act the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Haryana to elect in accord- ance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made there- under, a person to fill the vacancy so caused before the 10th April 1967

S.O. 982—In pursuance of the provisions of sub-section ()) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act 1951 the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No 100/HR-CS/1/67 (1) dated the 20th March 1967 -

(a) the 27th March, 1967 as the last date for making nominations, (b) the 23th March, 1967 as the date for the scrutiny of nominations, (c) the 30th March 1967 as the last date for the withdrawal of candi

datures,(d) the 6th April, 1967 as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary he taken, and (e) the 10th April, 1967, as the date before which the election shall be completed [No 100/HR-CS/l/67(2)] ( 727 )

S.O. 983.—In pursuance of section 56 of the Representation of the People Art, 1951, the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 11.00 A.M. to 3.00 PM as the hours durinR which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken for the election to the Council of States to be heM in pursuance of its notification No, 100/HR-CS/l/67(l), dated the 20th March, 1967.

S.O. 984. -In exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 OL the Represen- tation of the People Act, 1951. the Election Commission, in consult i lion with the Government of Haryana, hereby designates the Secretary, Haryana Vidhan Sabha, ChandiPfrh to be the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in rmrsuance of its notification No. 1OO/HR-CS/1/67U), dated the 20th March. 1967.

S.O. 985.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints the Assistant Secretary, Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Chandigarh, to assist the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in, pursuance of its notification No. 100/HR-CS/1/67C1), dated the 20th March, 1967, in the performance of his functions.
