NOTIFICATIONS New Delhi, the 21st March 1967
S.O. 995.—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the seats allotted to the State of Bihar in the Council of States by reason of the election of Shri Rajendra Prasad Jain having been declared void by the Election Tribunal, Patna, Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 147 of the said Act, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Bihar to elect, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder, a person to fill the vacancy so caused before the 11th April, 1967.

S.O. 996.—In pursuance of the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 89 of the Representation pf the People Act, 1951. the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/BR-CS/l/67(l). dated the 21st March, 1967—
(a) the 28th March, 1967, as the last date for making nominations; (b) the 29th March, 1967, as the date for the scrutiny of nominations; (c) the 31st March, 1967, as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures; (d) the 7th April, 1967, as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken; and
(e) the 11th April, 1967, as the date before which the election shall be completed.
? 36 TH* GAZ&TTE OJF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY (PAH U-Oia Uiifi,S.O. 897.—In pursuance of section 56 of the Representation of the People Act. 1951, the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 11-00 A.M. to 4-00 P.M. as the hours during which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 190/BR- CS/1/67(1), dated the 21st March, 1987.

S.O. 998.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 of the Repre- sentation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission, in consultation with the Government oi' Bihar, hereby designates the Secretary Bihar Legislative Assembly to be the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 10.0/BR-CS/l/67(l), dated the 21st March, 1&87.

S.O. 999.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of sec- tion 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints the Joint Secretary, Bihar Legislative Assembly to assist the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held hi pursuance of its notification No. 10O/BR-CS/l/67(l), dated the 21st March, 1967, in the per- formance of his functions.
